Last night I watched the movie ballet shoes and the movie December Boys. These are AMAZING movies! If you haven't seen them you have to! Anyone else like them as much as me? They were just so touching and had incredible performances in them. Emma Watson is my all time favorite actress!

i got in contact with the class teacher again boys can wear shorts or sweats and a white shirt with black ballet shoes
Most of the time, boys wear tight black pants and a white shirt. You could always call the dance school and ask what would be appropriate for a boy of his age to wear to that particular class. I put a link to some boy's black dance shoes from Amazon.com at the bottom, as well.

Your school will have a dress code and let you know what to wear. You will probably need the following:
Black tights (possibly footless), a dance belt* (This is a MUST! get flesh colored one), black or white ballet slippers, black or white snug tee shirt. Maybe white socks if footless tights. Check first to see what they require.

You can purchase these items at a dance supply shop or online at discountdance.com. Ballet slippers should be fitted the first time. different brands run very differently. They should be snug but not so tight as to make your toes curl under.

It has been a long time since I was in a "first class" but it is nothing to worry about. You will learn the 5 positions and about turnout and how to work at the barre. Everything is gone over lots of times, so do not worry. It is not just learning them in your head, but in your body practicing them over and over.
