Boys Walking Shoes

My little boy is about to start walking and I have never made him wear shoes, because he refused to keep them on his feet!! My mother says I should take him to a Stride Rite store to get his feet measured and get him a good pair of walking shoes. Whats the difference in shoes and Walking shoes? And do people still get walking shoes for their infants?

Little ones do not need shoes when they begin to walk. If you need shoes for outdoors, simple is better, a $10 pair from walmart will do just fine! Baby's grow so fast as you know, they do not know the difference between Nike's and cheaper shoes... I say go with a simple, easy to put on pair to protect his feet from being hurt outdoors and leave them off inside!

I'm a teacher and I have always wondered why when boys are sitting down they often allow their feet to fall in and out of their shoes. Similar also to when they are walking around and their shoes aren't tightened up and the shoes act loose like sandals. I think it's maybe sort of like a therapeutic thing similar to someone rocking on their chair.

But I never see girls doing it although I have seen men in their 20s doing it occasionally.

I wonder if maybe there is some sort of phycology behind it, are they subconsciously massaging?

I think this would fall under the general category of "self-stimulation", like tapping a pencil or drumming your fingers or tapping your feet to the music in your head.

Most boys are quickly bored by people talking and need to engage more of the nervous system in activity. Girls, in general, find talking much more engaging than boys. Even thinking, which is subliminal "self-talk" usually does hold most boy's full attention.

We will be doing a ton of walking and I need them to be close to the sturdiness of a good athletic shoe but need them to be open toe. Will spend a little extra money

nike sandals.. the ones with a open heel, almost like thongs but instead of the in between the toe thing it goes over the top of your foot.. very comfortable.. costs like 40$

I see people that look like giants, who wear shoes, regular shoes (not boots, walk talls, or anything), and then the following day they are my height, and wear different shoes. It must add at least 2 inches. Anyone know of these?

They might be wearing lifts, also known as elevator shoes. These are shoes with raised insoles, so it's like a hidden high heel. An alternative to lifts is inserting lots of insoles into your shoes.
