Karin, your crass commercialism surprises even me. There is a much better way to resolve this problem. First, take 20% from the shoe shine boys as a licensing fee. Then offer them the right to increase their fee to 90c. Then, announce to the world that you are raising your bull charge to $20,000 in order to be able to fund free shoe shines for every patron of your bullring. Next, add a 20% surcharge to the admission tickets at your venue. Claim this is a healthcare tax to benefit the matadors. Use the procedes to give the matadors 100% coverage for any cancers they may develop which are diagnosed in the middle of the bullring during a moonlight bullfight. Invest the premiums thus collected in high yeild bonds, using the proceeds to expand seating at your bullring preparatory to the next strike by your shoe shine boys. I work at Famous Footwear and a woman came in with a son about 6 or 7 years old. The boy was wearing slippers. She told me that the only kind of shoe he can wear is Vans because any other shoe pulls on...something or rather, I don't know. She went on to explain that the boy had had surgery on his feet (or maybe ankle, not too sure) because of walking on his toes his entire life. Anyway, now, according to her, he can only wear Vans. I didn't ask too many question as to not offend the crock she was dishing out, so I just helped her look for some Vans or any other kind of skater shoe. Not only does this not make any sense to me, but she was also going to buy the boy some sandals...I mean, what happened to only wearing Vans?

Is this a true medical problem or is she making it up so that she could get some Vans?
I do know that certain shoes are recommended by doctors for certain conditions, but I never heard a doctor recommended Vans or any other skater shoe for any purpose other than to prevent slipping and falling.
The only reason I ask is because I'm curious as to what the condition is, otherwise I wouldn't even care.

If her son was born with short Achilles Tendons, and had surgery in order to lengthen them, then a shoe that does not rub the back of the heel would be appropriate. Van's do not cover a large portion of the heel/ankle area, and probably cause him the least amount of discomfort. Sandals that are low on the back of the foot would work also. Any Physical Therapist that has worked with young children with birth defects will tell you that walking on your toes is a real problem, not some line of "crock", as you put it.

we have 6 ppl in the house we live in my son, my husband, my mother-in-law, her husband, my brother-in-law(the house is in his name) and me. i want to know if i hsould tell my husband i cant stand it were moving or to just take all the bull thats happening... the house bill is split up into 3's and its not really that bad you know? well in going crazy i can handle my mother in law but she makes dicisions sorta for my son of 7 months she says that he need shoes and that "the boys" whould have had bad ankles if they didnt wear shoes(hint hint they do have bad ankles) so them wearing shoes didnt really make a diffrence.
my family is not able to grow b-c of everyone that lives here... i cant take it i know that my brothe in law and mother in law whouldnt be able to make the payments alone but god i am just so frustated ive thought of holding family meetings but no one is around at the same time to do them we need something i dont know what but something please help
