ok,mom bought both of us (I'm 14 ,brother is 12) same canvas shoes,I really like them,...mom said she couldn't find dark colors (same style) for him so she bought him white ones,too...but brother is like he says style is not for boys,and also he keeps saying white is also for girls !!

I've been dancing since 5th grade, but due to family complications had to take a break my 8th and 9th grade year. Now, i've gotten back into ballet during my 10th grade year. The studio I'm at does not have a recital, but instead 2 semesters of classes. First semester I was in an advanced beginner class to rebuild muscle and flexibility. Second semester, I was moved up to an intermediate class. I worked on 4 different styles in addition to flat ballet, so you can gate how developed my leg and foot muscles are. I used leather split sole bloch ballet shoes for those two semesters. Tomorrow, my mom and i are going shopping in preparation of a long summer of dance intensives to buy leotards, etc. I really want to get canvas ballet shoes because I don't like the way my leather ones stick to the floor and don't allow me to turn as easily and quietly as I see girls with canvas shoes do. Do you think I should use canvas or stick with leather to continue to build foot muscles?
Well, if your leather shoes still fit you I would keep them. I myself prefer Canvas shoes because they allow me to point my feet easier. Also, they are sometimes easier to move in. But leather shoes prepare you for pointe shoes more and allow your feet to strengthen more than canvas shoes would. So i would say you use canvas, but make sure you still do use leather once in a while.

You pretty much always start skating on the same foot each time. So I take a toe-step with my right foot, to keep the wheels off the ground. Then I take a step with my left foot, but this time flat so that the wheels touch. Then I kick off with my right foot and this time I let my wheels touch. So next I glide along.
