I have gone to a public school so far, but next year i will be going to a private school and the dress code is as follows:
The dress code of Xavier High School strives to reflect good taste, neatness, cleanliness and Christian modesty while avoiding trends and fads. Students reflect pride in themselves and their school by the way they dress and act. It is expected that parents/guardians will require their students to leave home dressed in accordance with these regulations. The administration reserves the right to interpret dress code. Its decisions are final.
Our goal was to develop a dress code that is understandable for students, parents and faculty. We have used a collaborative process, which included input from students, faculty, and parents. Through this process, we have come up with the following modifications to the dress code for the 2010-11 school year:
Slacks – Solid-color ankle-length dress slacks are to be worn. These slacks must be tan or navy blue. Slacks must be worn at the waist.
Shirts/Blouses – Solid-color, collared dress shirts or polo shirts must be worn at all times. All shirts must have sleeves. T-shirts or tank tops with insignias that are visible under the shirt are not allowed. All shirts must be tucked in at all times. Shirts must be buttoned to demonstrate Christian modesty (one button from the top). Small manufacturer’s logos and/or monograms are permitted on the front of the shirt only. Writing on the back of the shirt is not permitted.
Optional – the Xavier dress shirt (navy blue, light blue or white)or polo (navy blue, gray or white) purchased through the Saint Shop may be worn.
Skirts/Dresses - Skirts/dresses are not allowed, except on designated dress-up days for girls.
Shoes - Closed toed dress shoes or tennis shoes are required at all times. Boots are not permitted.
Sweaters/Vests/Cardigans – Solid-colored dress sweaters/dress vests/dress cardigans may be worn, but a solid-color, collared shirt must be worn and must be visible under the sweater/vest/cardigan.
Optional – the Xavier navy blue or gray dress sweater/dress vest/dress cardigan purchased through the Saint Shop may be worn, but a solid-color, collared polo or dress shirt must be worn and must be visible under the sweater/vest/cardigan.
Fleece – The Xavier ¼ zip Fleece ordered and purchased through the Saint Shop may be worn but a solid-color, collared shirt must be worn and must be visible under the ¼ zip fleece.
Hats/Bandannas - Hats, caps and other head coverings are not permitted.
Scarves – decorative scarves may not be worn .
Outerwear - Coats, sweatshirts, jackets, and sunglasses are not permitted in classrooms during school hours. Hooded items may not be worn.
Earrings - Earrings may be worn only by females. Excessive earrings are not allowed. Piercings are only permitted in the ears, and must be in good taste.
Hair - Hair is to be neat and well groomed. Neither extreme hairstyles nor unusual coloring are permitted. Boys hair is to be off the collar and above the eyebrow.
Tattoos – Tattoos must be covered at all times .
Casual Days - The final Friday of each month is a casual day. Students may wear appropriate sweatshirts or t-shirts (advertising for alcohol, drugs, bars, etc. are not allowed) with jeans or sweats on these days. During the months of August, September, April and May, boys may wear shorts (but not Capri pants) and girls may wear Capri pants (but not shorts) on casual days. Caps, hats, and bandannas are not allowed. These rules apply for any other casual days that are designated by the administration. Students choosing not to participate in casual day must be in approved dress code attire. Boys may wear earrings on casual days. Excessive earrings are not allowed. Piercings are only permitted in the ears, and must be in good taste.
Spirit Days - On designated days throughout the year, students may dress in spirit attire. If students wear shirts that say Xavier (or XHS, or Saints or have the Xavier logo), they may wear jeans or sweatpants. Xavier caps may be worn on these days. Shorts are not allowed on Spirit Days. Students who do not wear attire that says Xavier must be in regular dress code.
Dress-Up Days - On designated days throughout the year, students are able to dress up, usually for all-school Masses. Students must exercise Christian taste and modesty on these days.
Penalties - Students who are in violation of the dress code will receive demerits, will be required to correct the violation, and may be assigned to an in-school suspension.
now with that said, my own personal style is well, a little bit gothic emo, scene, girl gamer, anime nerd, To Write Love On Her Arms obsessed... but nothing really extreme, just all of that at the same time...
How can i still dress like myself while following the dress code????
"The dress code of Xavier High School strives to reflect good taste, neatness, cleanliness and Christian modesty while avoiding trends and fads."
Read that again, and then several more times. The idea of school dress codes is not to express one's personal sense of style or to stand out because of one's attire. What you are talking about "little bit gothic emo, scene, girl gamer, anime nerd, To Write Love On Her Arms obsessed" are specifically trends and fads and won't be acceptable on any level that comes to my mind.
I'm thinking it's best to "be yourself" outside of school and stick to the dress code during school hours. I'm sorry.

This is what the dress code says about shoes:
1. Girls must wear dress shoes (black, brown, navy) with backs with coordinating socks, nylons or tights when wearing a skirt. Socks that cover the ankle bone must be worn with pants.
2. Tennis shoes, canvas-material shoes, sandals, clogs, boots, and athletic shoes, athletic look-alikes with company logos are not to be worn. ONLY a physician's note will excuse a student's wearing tennis shoes.
It is unclear to me. What shoes can I wear? Put a link to a cute style of shoes too. Thanks:)
I also go to a private school and i wear ballet flats every single day of my life.....

You obv. can get flats just about anywhere but i own like 10 pairs of coach flats, and they are great! they are really comfy and my school doesnt say anything about them....only thing is you have to get the really plain ones, that dont have all the flowers and brand names on them...sucks but its lifeee
I found this highly interesting and wanted to put this observation up for opinions.
I have noticed that girls can act very different depending on how I dress, and I was wondering what you all would think if you saw me dressed like this and also why you think this happens. I will give you several situations and the outfit I wore:
Winter, January Location: Lounge
Solid blue dress shirt
Beige cricket sweater
Dark navy blazer
A dark red / maroon navy stripped tie
Honey brown corduroys
Dark brown penny loafers
A ribbon belt
So I am in the lounge, casually studying over my notes for an exam coming up. There are quite a few girls in the lounge. I notice that they are giving me looks, which I can tell are looks of interest. Some of these girls know me (so they know I'm straight) and would generally talk to me, but not today. The room is dead silent. I would look up occasionally to see a few looking or glancing at me and then looking away under a book or their laptop.
Winter, January Location: Lounge
Stripped navy dress shirt
Light knit cardigan
Pair of true religion jeans
Brown leather belt
White canvas shoes
This time the girls were much more talkative with me. The ones I did not know were readily introducing themselves. The ones I did know were chatty as usual. The atmosphere was much warmer and more welcoming. Basically, everyone in the lounge was open for conversation unlike before. The conditions were virtually the same except for the change of outfit.
Winter January Nighttime Location: Lounge
Green graphic tee
Pair of jeans
White canvas shoes
Same conditions as before. Still many new girls that I did not know. This time the conversations were even more boisterous. The girls did not seem to be so sucked into their studies and were much more open to discussion. They no longer gave me those glances and look aways. They now fully conversed and everyone was having a very comfortable, good time.
So explain to me why as the outfit gets simpler the interact gets much warmer in a college situation. While often times asking a girl how she would like a guy to dress she deems it is very nice to dress as in situation one or two? How would you have reacted?
with me I only pay attention to their personalities because most of the guys dress in pants and shirt to me as long as it looks clean and presentable I might notice if he wear a dress and try to dress like a woman.

Shoes - Shoes for me and my girls - SEASIDESMITTEN's Blue Wedding ...
It didn't take me long to find shoes to wear on my special day. I'm not much of a shopper, or a "shoe girl". I think I have 4 pairs of heels, a couple pairs of shoes I wear to work, 2 pairs of boots, sneakers for working out, and an array of flip flops so, while shoes are important they weren't high on my priority list...
The first picture are my wedding day heels I'll wear the majority of the day and evening. The peep toe heels are by Nina and the style is Culver. I wanted something simple, with a low heel that I'd be comfortable in, in ivory to match my dress, at a decent price, received good reviews from other brides, and nothing too "blingy". I think they're simple, yet elegant enough for my wedding day.
The second picture, I am planning to have a backup pair of comfy sandals to wear while taking pictures on the beach, and at our reception so I'm comfy when dancing the night way! I think these Juicy starfish sandals are just perfect! They are simple and elegant as well!...
