What shop sells good school bags in Aus?
JAM-Kingston-0710-72-v1

I live in Sydney, and right now i can't find much in the way of a school backpack (medium size) Roxy and Billabong fall straight apart, Kathmandu go ratty and look lame, the real Hello Kitty is too expensive and the fake is crap.

Does anyone know where to find any good bags for reasonable prices that don't fall apart!? Thanks.

Be thankful you're allowed to bring any backpack you're allowed to school... I live in AUSTRALIA too, but I go to a private school the bag pretty much has to be a school one =[

I thought the Roxy and Billabong bags are really good?!
I've got two Roxy ones and I've put so much in them, and they are still in great condition.

Hmm, I'm not so sure... try Myer and Kmart.

Where can I find a decent selection of school bags that will fit both my books as well as my laptop?

I need a bag for school that will carry my books as well as my computer. A lot of the bags I've found are either extremely utilitarian looking (ugly), or really not intended to carry that much weight. Is there a happy medium?
I live in the great Pacific Northwest--Oregon. Everywhere I've looked has had only like 3-5 bags to choose from.

You did not say where you live, but if you have a Kohl's around you, I bet they will have exactly what you are looking for.

I found a real cool black leather one there that holds my lap top and my files (easily over 25 pounds of crap), it looks great, not hard on the shoulder and has dividers in it so I can easily find what I am looking for.

It cost 39.00.

Are school bags something to make a big deal out of?

All the girls at my school get all surf brand bags eg billabong, roxy , ripcurl and so on. Anyway I need a new one because I had my old one for 2 years it was a rusty bag. Should I spend about 50$ to buy another one like it or should I just get any old one because its just a bag.

Get a cute one because you do have to carry it every single day, but there is no reason to spend so much on a brand name one..theres tons of cute backpacks that you can get for way cheaper than 50$

What do primary school kids have in those bags with the school emblem on them?

This applies to the UK. During the past 3 or 4 years, I have seen primary school children taking an A3 sized bag which is the same colour as their school jumpers with the logo on it. They are also carrying a normal school bag and sometimes a lunch box or bag.

As I don't know of anyone with a primary school aged child, I cannot ask them.

they carry their school reading books that are given to them to read at home, and they take them back to school as they read it to their teacher. also sometimes the work they do at school they are allowed to take them home later

Where to get the absolute best messenger bags for school?

Okay, I'm combing through a million websites and maybe some of you who are older know some places to get the best messenger bags because I'm starting high school next year. I need a bag that is canvas or cotton, maybe leather. It should be around 14 inches long, 10 in height, and about 4 inches in thickness. I'm really looking more for sites where I can customize it, but any stores or other suggestions are fine. And the price range is around up to 130 dollars.

I love my abercrombie and fitch tote bag that was only 70$

  • Service learning class at Kelloggsville's Discovery Alternative High School ...

KELLOGGSVILLE -- When Joni Henshaw walked into her service learning class at Discovery Alternative High School, she thought it was just another credit for her transcript.

"And then having something bloom and develop really changed it," she said. "Everyone is enthused."

"It builds responsibility," classmate Courtney Schleh said.

"You realize there's a lot more out there than you see every day -- like hunger," student Kara Leussenkamp said.

The first-ever service learning class has involved about 20 students in brainstorming, planning and carrying out projects in the school and community.

The class has a teacher, Mary Kay Hostein, but it is almost entirely student-run.

So far, the class has decided to partner with local food pantry Family Network and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Students sell pickles at lunch for 50 cents to raise money for the society.

For the pantry, they have put boxes at buildings in the district to collect food. The latest effort involved decorating grocery bags and distributing them to teachers to bring back filled with food.

A Village Elementary third-grade class took an Earth Day Challenge seriously last spring and collected more than 5,200 plastic bags. The students’ actions brought a $1,000 cash prize to the school this fall that will be used to start a school-wide recycling program.

David Goldsmith, representing the Emporia Walmart store, presented the now fourth-grade students with a $1,000 check last week, according to teacher Traci Meyer.

Last April, Mrs. Meyer’s third-grade class participated in and won the Emporia Walmart Earth Day Challenge. Students collected plastic shopping bags from family, neighbors and friends. They took the bags to school, counted them out in groups of 25 and bagged them. Mrs. Meyer made many trips to the Walmart service desk to deliver the bags – more than 5, 200 all together.

“The purpose of the contest was to reduce the amount of plastic shopping bags that are going into the landfills,” Meyer said. “To reuse this plastic reduces the amount of oil needed to produce more, as well as energy savings in producing less. It takes a plastic bag 1,000 years to decompose in a landfill.”
