Dakine School Bags

I always wonder what should i put in my dakine backpack im in 7th grade and my dakine backpack is my school bag so help me out here.

School books, homework, personal items.

My daughter is out of elementary school and I want to get her an awesome bag! I was looking at the Dakine bags, but wanted to get everyone's opinion :) I think she is preferring the messenger bags or the over-sized purse type bags.
What is the ultimate bookbag this year?
Also, any great clothing ides would be excellent!

I have looked at the Dakine packs but I think they might be too small. if anyone has used Dakine bags could you tell me if it's big enough? If not Dakine could you post some links to some other bags that are strong, sturdy, last long and look nice? My budget is $40. And if you have gone through middle school, tell me if a tote bag is fine to use...! Thank you so much! :)

Totes are fine to use but i prefer a backpack because it fits more stuff inside.

I seldom wear a pack when skiing in-bounds at a resort. When I ski out-of-bounds, I carry a pack with a water reservoir, which the Dakine Heli-Pro has. Besides, the Heli-pro looks cooler.
