But why not focus on your sandwich - - you can use many different breads - several kind of greens or sprouts - and sliced cheeses or cheese spreads to titillate your taste buds - I fear you may have excluded the many sausage meats that the deli has
Have you also thought of soups - stews and other casseroles spaghetti raviolis lasagna that you can take in a wide mouth thermos hot or cold like jello- potato - macaroni - potato salads
and remember they make insulated back packs for just this purpose - - along with plastic ice bags

This applies to the UK. During the past 3 or 4 years, I have seen primary school children taking an A3 sized bag which is the same colour as their school jumpers with the logo on it. They are also carrying a normal school bag and sometimes a lunch box or bag.
As I don't know of anyone with a primary school aged child, I cannot ask them.
they carry their school reading books that are given to them to read at home, and they take them back to school as they read it to their teacher. also sometimes the work they do at school they are allowed to take them home later

I'm going to high school for the first time in about a week. I need something to take my lunch in because I don't want to buy (the school has horrible food). I almost think that getting a lunch bag so dorky, like a scooby doo one, would be cool just because its different. I could also get just like a plain one. Would a dorky one be so dorky I could pass it off as cool? Need your opinion... thanks
People bring their own lunch all the time. I either bring my own lunch from home or leave campus to buy something. I don't like the school's food either unless I buy something from the snack line. Oh and I have a Hello Kitty lunchbox that I like to bring to Tennis tournaments, hehe.

Hello. My name is Mary. I am a mom and my 12 year old son 7th grader just asked for a brown bag lunch. I am wondering is it 'cool' to have a brown bag lunch at school and uncool to have a lunch box?
If your son or daughter uses a brown bag at school, please tell me below and post a picture of their brown bag lunch. Thank you.
Nahhh, I'm 13, 8th grade, and I have a Hello Kitty lunch box. I'm hot shiiiiiit. (:
Ahaa, but for guys, brown bag or just the plain ones are the coolest. All the cool guys at my school buy lunch, but that's just nasty.
A parent packs a sandwich, drink and snacks for their child. The child doesn't like the taste of the turkey sandwich. Does the Lunch Lady have to right to take away the lunch bag and pull up a chair and sit and watch and force the child to eat the WHOLE sandwich before she will return his lunch bag?
The child then feels like throwing up because of forcing down a sandwich that he didn't want or like the way the turkey tasted.
What should a parent do about a situation like this? The child is in Middle School.
Hey BubbleHead..
The child usually enjoys turkey sandwiches etc. It's not the Lunch Ladies Job to make sure the child eats healthy it's the parents job. The whole point was the child didn't like the way it tasted as in bad tasting and who is the lunch lady to take away the bag regardless of what snacks were in there and pull up a chair and sit there gawking at him until he swallowed the whole sandwich. I'm sure she wouldn't do it to her daughter who was sitting at the same lunch table. And if the parents chooses to let the child eat junk food that is the parents choice and not the almight lunch lady whos little power went to her head. No kid should be policed and forced to eat regardless so they go home hungry. And your answering was useless and bubbledhead....bubbles air between the ears totally fits.
NO WAY!! Take it to the principal and if that gets no where, attend the next school board meeting. THAT will get results. Of course you might want to try approaching the lunch lady herself first. An Outrage!

Insulated bags and containers now mean that you can send supper leftovers to school with your child and the meal should stay relatively warm until first break.
Pick ’n Pay sell a Fuel-branded insulated container, which I use to send pasta’s, stews and left-over veggies to school. I don’t put it in the dishwasher and
it generally lasts for about a year or two. Well worth it for the ± R40 price tag. The idea of lettuce wilting makes the idea of taking salads to school unappealing. But what if you replaces the lettuce with pasta or couscous? The carbohydrates would make the meal more substantial and the starch wouldn’t wither under the weight of the dressing. If you’re making pasta for dinner just keep some aside and add cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, onions and some dressing.
Crudités: I’m a huge fan of freezing lunchbox snacks and pulling them out the freezer in the morning . As long as you’ve individually packed your portions then you shouldn’t have issues of sticking.
