what makes it legal for a teacher, principle, or dean of student to search a school bag or locker? wouldn't this violate the 4th amendment to have privacy in your own possession?
Do warrants apply to bags?
can police randomly search you?

The locker is the property of the school, so it can be routinely searched by school personnel. A school bag can be searched if school personnel have a reasonable suspicion that a school rule has been broken. I don't think that police can randomly search students. Some schools have signs posted saying that people entering the building may be randomly scanned with a metal detector. Having the warning posted then makes the random scanning legal.

Nandhi sir, since we are using computers, internet, and spare out time to share such thoughts i agree on your thought on rich Private schools.
On the broader vision look at the Public schools ( Govt Schools ) which lacks in many facilities - many schools donot have pure drinking water facility, toilet facility.... many schools in smaller towns / villages even donot have buildings to occomodate students......... oooff the problems and lack of facilities are awfully worse.
Sorry for my negative answer to your question, but this is the reality. Why to provide lockers, can fo for E-Education, Books loaded in a laptop can be provided to the children instead of lockers which could save money also develop learning skills, can reduce the use of wood pulp ( papers ) ofcourse one should have a note book to write or the future gen may loose the art of writing! or even can have a E-notebook.

Schools are doing random checks for cellphones and randomly searching students bags, isn't this illegal?
So once they confiscate the phone, are they allowed to searches through the phones text messages & pictures just because they want to?
If you pull the battery, memory card, sim card, etc. out of the phone, they suspend you. Also they are patting students down. They are using male teachers to pat down male students and vis versa, but this still seems pretty illegal?

the school board says they are trying to ban book bags so kids cannot bring guns,weapons,drugs to school. is this right to do??

My question to them is then, "How do you propose to have students carry their books and homework back and forth from home and school?"

If they can come up with a reasonable solution then perhaps it could be considered...but I can't think of one they would likely support.
