I'd like to see what everybody gets because my little sister is starting secondary school but she can't go on Yahoo Answers yet. I mean, it obviously varies for schools, but this question is more for grammar school girls probably... ah I dunno!!
Well I don't go to Grammar School, but most people started Year 7 with backpacks, and some people still have backpacks.
But most people switched to handbags half way through Year 7/Start of Year 8.
Everyone has big handbags though to fit books in, and most people take another bag for they're PE Kit.
Not many people at our school have across the body bags..in fact hardly any people at all.
Except on Mufti Days, usually people take really small across the body bags from New Look.. :S
Only a few people started off with handbags.
Hope this helped! x

I'm only 11, and I'm really bored right now.. So, I decided to look for a school bag for secondary school next year(Yes, it's pretty early to be looking for one, but as I said, I'm bored and I want to be prepared anyway). I would prefer a handbag.. Quite a big one too. Rucksacks/Bagpacks are a little weird for me, and hurt my back, plus handbags are quite the style now and I like them :)
Could you give me links to some nice bags that I could buy?(Not too expensive please).
I'm so excited already :D
Thank you. (I know my grammar is very good for my age!)
How about these:
These are eco friendly too

Hi just wondering if you people like this bag for school. I know that it's a little weird but do you think people will think that I am strange when I go to school (I don't want anyone stereotyping me as crazy!)
All answers appreciated
Alex!

that is a very nice bag. And for a secondary school bag, it would be a great one. You can carry it, or do it over your shoulder and have it close to your side. Also, I like how it has the zipper top. It is not to grown up for a secondary school bag.
Ha! I used exactly 110 letters!!!
Anyway...Please answer serious question.
For a permanent kind of style ie your pencil case or binder I'd suggest using stickers, cuttings from magazines, fabric, ribbon, glitter, or a plastic paint sealed by a decoupage glue (modge podge, or other kind of sealant)
School bag: there are always nifty pins, safety pins, buttons, patches, fabric markers etc. Learn to sew a bit and there's also rhinestone kits or something at walmart. It depends on your style. Acrylic paint seems to be a nice stain (i had so many stains in my clothes) Add a bit of water to make it flow better and paint!
Books of course use a book cover of sort. Use a stiffer paper such as grocery bags. Paint it a base colour (white black etc) if you don't want it brown. Then decorate w glitter, stencils, magazines, pics of friends, poems lace etc. I'd prob use the modge podge as well..maybe on both sides to give the paper some strength as well as protect your art.
Lockers we usually got cute magnets and put pics up..maybe tape up some cute wrapping paper. Make your own magnets w, again, stickers, pictures etc and modge podge. Or even make clay bugs or something.
For yourself hot glue things to barrettes, and plastic headbands. Cut off the toes in toe socks to make fingerless gloves, make a skirt out of a pillow case! HAVE FUN!
SEriously the possibilities are endless!!

Nanyang Girls' High students use iPad for lessons - Fit to Post ...
140 students from Nanyang Girls’ High School began the week carrying brand-new Apple iPads in their school bags, given not by their parents but by their school.
Touted as “one of the first schools in Singapore to use iPad for lessons”, the pilot project, codenamed P21C² (Prototype 21st Century Class), aims to boost student engagement and their interest in learning, and at the same time keep up with today’s technologically-advanced society.
Students from two Secondary 1 classes and two Secondary 3 classes are involved in this programme, and iPads are used in the teaching of all subjects in these classes, gradually replacing the conventional pen-and-paper learning environment.
Principal Mdm Heng Boey Hong thinks it is not too early to start on this project as we embark on the second decade of the new millennium.
“In a 21st century world, knowledge is no longer simply disseminated, but co-created. Commonly referred to as ‘digital natives’, our present generation of students should be given a technology-enabled environment that meets their learning style,” she said.
