How to makeover a school conference room?

My elementary school has a conference room with a mish-mash of items. The soundproofing on the walls is gray (on one wall). The carpet is red - yikes, but no changing that. The room is very dark and dingy with old furniture that does not go together. I'm trying to give it a makeover to make it a calming pleasant place to be - not a dark dungeon. My first thought - chair covers; maybe a table runner in a bright color; and some sort of window treatment with color. One wall is a white board (floor to ceiling), another is the gray soundproofing and the other two are a beige type color (maybe once upon a time white). There are 3 small windows - but being in Alaska it doesn't bring in much light during the winter.

Any ideas to make this dark dreary room into a beautiful comfortable space?

How about painting the walls all a soft butter-cream and putting a red and white checkerboard border around to tie in the carpet and soften the effect - then cover all the furniture in a canvas duck or denim so they are casual and easily cleaned. The white board wall should be cleaned and accessorized with magnets or clings to make it cheery then bring in some potted plants and a few side lamps (hit yard sales and ask for donations. I think if you approach the room with a casual "country" look it will be pleasurable for many years to come. Good Luck!

What kind of plastic is used for furniture?

I need specific details on what kind of plastic is used in everyday chairs. And which company or industry offers it. Example...the orange chairs used in elementary schools.

THANKS:)

Polypropylene!

NOT Polystyrene! Polystyrene is flamable! NOT good for schools! Highly regulated in industry and construction due to this problem.

What types of things do you have to buy for your elementary classroom?

I am a senior in high school and I will be majoring in elementary education next year. I was curious to what you have to buy for your classroom. For example do you have to buy your own dry erase boards, desk chair, and book shelves. I realize you have to buy certain things like decorations. But what types of furniture and major things do you have to buy for your classroom? I appreciate any anwers! (:

No you technically don't have to buy anything but some teachers buy............
♥Name tags for desks
♥Extra games
♥Cards if you want to have the change card system.

You won't have to buy much just the extras.

Is my design idea for my bedroom good and how can I make it better?

I just moved into a new apartment. I'm having furniture delivered from Ikea that is black/brown, all with squared edges and simple lines. (Malm, Mikael, & Expedit) Walls are currently (and will probably stay) white. I want my design to be simple Japanese/Asian meets colorful beach house. Bedding, wall decorations, and accessories are to be colorful (think the color wheel from elementary school). By keeping the the colors to bedding and accessories, I want to be able to alternate it with a more zen-like/earth tone style whenever the mood hits me.

Would this design work? What colors should I concentrate on or avoid? Is there other advice you might have to make this space amazing?

If you are going Japanese/Asian, then, walls should be offwhite, taupe, then blend in accessories to be black with gold accents, followed with red and golds for bedspread and black and brass in bathroom. With the light beige or taupe, you will be able to keep your theme and change your comfort cover with browns, blues and dark blues when you want. Beach (Nautical)and Asian will not work together. Adirondack chairs will not go with a Japanese theme. You may mix it with Bamboo accents possibly, but these 2 themes are separate.

Is God gonna be rewarding these two people equally?

Is God gonna be rewarding these two people equally when they enter the Kingdom of Heaven?

Scott: He is a young and wealthy businessman who lives in a nice house and drives a nice truck and he also owns a boat, a 4 wheeler, water skis and he gets to go to alot of rock concerts, nice vacations, owns alot of nice furniture, stereo equipment, lots of weight equipment and has a big swimming pool in his backyard, unfortunately Scott is only nice to those who have popularity and wealth and treats the other types of people as if they're inferior to him and his friends and he lacks concern towards other types of people, sadly there are people who only like Scott cause of his wealth and popularity and that Scott often takes them out on boating trips in the summer and road trips and Scott also invites his friends over to beer parties

Ron: He is a janitor at a elementary school and he is a good loving husband and father and he finds alot of joy and happiness in his family, God and Jesus Christ and he is always really friendly towards everybody and is easy to get along with and he is always joyful, happy and grateful for the good things he has in life, once every summer Ron does whatever he can to take his wife and children to various places in certain areas, people like Ron cause he is a really friendly and joyful person and is always easy to get along with and he makes your day better when you're around him.

Ron is a believer of God and Jesus and has accepted Christ as his saviour, Scott does believe in God and Jesus but he focuses too much on his material wealth to where he hardly thinks about God and Jesus.

I wanted to assume that these are fictional characters but I can;t trust a bible thumper, so I will go with Man 1 and Man 2.

It can be assumed by looking at Man 1 that God has already begun to reward him with wealth, friends and jest skis. The blessings of the fathers last up until the thousandth generation.

Man 2 prays to "God and Jesus Christ". Since the most cursed sin is to place another God before the one true God, Man 2 will be cursed for bowing to a mangod.

He will likely loose his job and his wife, become angry and seek shelter at a church. From there he will become more devout until one day he hears voices and goes in and shoots up the church and goes home and burns his house down. His children will become strange and jump into a life of crime. The curses of the father pass until the third and fourth generation. Apparently Man 2 is not such a great father because he didn't read and check the claims of the New Testament and side with the truth that they don't match up in context. By knowing that he jeopardized his soul with "blind faith" which is another way many reply when asked why the follow the lies of the New testament and do not adhere to truth, and that his sins would pass to his children, Man 2 was not only neglectful but criminally negligent on a level far below the greed of Man 1.

Scores of volunteers turn out to ready Rose City Park Elementary for ...

Nearly 500 students and teachers safely evacuated Marysville school in Southeast Portland as fire swept the building Tuesday morning. Portland Fire & Rescue investigators released preliminary estimates Saturday that set the toll at $4.25 million:  $2.75 million damage to the building and $1.5 million damage to contents.

The displaced students and teachers will stay at Rose City Park, about five miles from Marysville, for the rest of the school year, said Portland Public Schools Superintendent Carole Smith. "We want them to settle in here," she said. "This is their new home."

On Saturday, people were making that home a cheery one. Volunteers filled the cafeteria, signing up to paint classrooms and doors, spread barkdust, assemble furniture and put away supplies, and make colorful signs welcoming kids and teachers to their new classrooms.

They snacked from long tables piled with donated rolls, pastries, juice, bottled water and home-baked cookies and muffins.

Filth Wizardry: Paint on furniture

Unusually, this is not a post about how to get paint off furniture, although if you know how to get oil pastels off bathroom grout, please do let me know! This is actually a post about letting the kids paint the furniture. I have this thing that I want to do when the kids are a bit older. I'd really like to get everyone in the family to decorate their own chair that they sit on at the kitchen table. We have four boring cheap wooden chairs that I think would be very fun to paint all sorts of colours and glue stuff onto. Kinda art chairs that reflects the person that sits in them. I think I'm going to wait until the kids are about seven and eight for that. In the mean time... I think I mentioned in a post a while back that we were trying to make a little wendy house in the kid's bedroom for them (They won't fit in a melon box now) We call them "Ty Bach" back in Wales, which just means "little house". We rent our home and so there wasn't any wall painting or full on building that we could...
