My Child turned four this past January. Of course not being five means you can't go to kindergarten. In the Klein school district in order for a child to go to pre-k, you have to be dirt poor. Even though it's a public school you still have regulations such as income which prevents you from sending your child to school. Daycare in the surrounding area cost $$$$$ big time, especially since I have two other children. My question is, does anyone know of a headstart in the Klein district or is there a way around the income guidelines? Once school starts I will have two going to school and it will help alot. Summer is here now and daycares raise tuition $20-$30! Can anyone help, cause I feel like i'm working just to pay childcare?
Maybe your child doesn't need to go to Pre-K. Check on line at some of the home schooling sites for the skills your child should have to enter kindergarten. If your child already has those skills then why send him/her to Pre-K. Headstart is usually to help those kids who have not gotten certain skills down pat.
As a former teacher I sometimes think we are trying to get the little ones into the school environment too soon. Whoops, I got in trouble for that statement before....

My son goes to pre-school (head start) four days a week. He has began throwing trantrums, including throwing furniture, spitting, biting, yelling, etc. Every time he throws a tantrum, the school calls me to come and pick him up. Now he has learned that if he misbehaves, I will come and get him. He feels rewarded by his bad behavior. How do I fix this???
We have tried all sorts of punishments. We took most of his toys away, all special treats gone, tried "safe zone" or time out, even gave him a spanking......Nothing works.... Help Me!!!!
You need to consistently reward his positive behavior and punish his negative behavior. Although I believe in spanking, maybe it's more effective to take away something he likes (game, book, etc.)

I don't want to be off on Sundays. I tend to spend more money or go places and waste time. I want to work on Sundays. I have worked fast food, deli, I have spent 16 years in the National Guard including a tour of duty in the gulf. I have been a dispatcher, administrative assistant, military police, I have worked as a receptionist in a furniture showroom, I am willing to do hard work that keeps me busy on Sunday. I have also taught school since 93 and now I am Pre K Special ed and I love it. I stay home in the summer with my 5 year old, but I want to work on Sunday.
you can work at the church on sundays, taking care of the kids and teaching them stuff, my mom does that! :) its pretty cool!.
Hello. In February my 9 year old boy started having what we call episodes. He has them about 4 times a day and 5 in his sleep.
He just calls out and drops to the floor. He goes pale and his heart races for the duration. After about 30 secs he comes out of them but always grabs at things and seems out of it for a few more seconds. Anyway the docs refering him to specialists to see what it is.
If any one has any ideas??? Anything similar.
He ALWAYS wakes up with one.
BUT what I need Help with.
We think it may be mental but have no idea why.
He has always been good at school and really well behaved at home.He has 3 younger siblings and loves helping out. Until recently.
Then his behaviour has just changed. He smashes things up.
Breaks all our rules. Doesnt care about upsetting his siblings. He has changed his personality. He doesnt seem to hear us when we ask him to do something. He never answers when we speak to him. He wont make conversation anymore.
He is constantly fidgeting, eats standing up, always throwing things, swinging, climbing, writing on furniture on walls and ripping posters down etc. He is constantly putting things in his mouth Im worried he could choke. His cant sit still at school anymore and is always rocking on his chair. He used to be the brightest in the class but is now slipping. You cant read his writing anymore.
He cant seem to control his bowels and is often in a mess.
We went on holiday last week and everyone was just staring at him. He was constantly touching things he shouldnt and talking to complete strangers happily sitting at their table without being invited. He would run round bumping into people and not care.He never shows any remorse for anything. He even pooed in the swimming pool and they had to close it but he wasnt bothered.
He has changed.
Is this normal or is it pre teen or can children have breakdowns.
Please any advice on how to manage his behaviour because he doesnt care what we do and will stare at us as he tries to wind us up even more.
I dont want to smack him. His dad did and my son slapped him round the face. He has no respect for us.
I want to help him. I want my son back. I feel I have been a good mum for 8 years and now all my work is being unravelled as I lose patience with him all the time.
We are trying desperately to ignore bad behaviour and reward good but its hard and how can you ignore him smashing things up and not punish him with three others watching?
Parenting help please.
hello. Thanks so far everyone. He has seen a pdtrician who has refered him to an epilepsy specialist and a phyciatrist excuse my spelling. I have got a doctors apt tomorow to try and rush them on. We are not abusing him, but valid point, no offence taken. I know its not really for yahoo, I am going as fast as I can medically, I just wanted advice. Thanks so far to all.
It sounds as if your son is having seizures! Hopefully your Dr has ordered testing to check for this. If he is having seizures, up to 5 times a day, it may be that he is disoriented & feeling overwhelmed & out of control. A pre-teen doesn't want to do ANYTHING to embarrass themselves, they certainly are not going to mess their pants on purpose, this often happens during seizures when muscular control is lost. Please be patient, your son needs your support. I hope you get to the specialist very soon & if anything should worsen please take him to the emergency room.

Before you make a list of furniture to purchase for your preschool classroom, Versace handbags , think of ways to encourage safety, fun, and learning. Tables and chairs are necessary, but this does not mean that you have to get the most plain kind. The same is true for interesting preschool furniture, such as toddler lofts. Purchase the furniture that will both fit into your classroom and interest your students in particular.
This type of preschool furniture frequently includes stairs leading up to an enclosed space where youngsters can play safely. Many lofts also include a slide to make coming down from the fun furniture particularly exciting. The stairs are usually padded, nike shox nz , flanked by handrails low enough for toddlers to grab easily. Many lofts can hold several kids, as well as a teacher. Some even offer storage space underneath, permitting teachers with little extra space to place toys under the loft. If you want preschool furniture that is both practical and fun, a toddler loft may be your best bet.
