Is it Legal to Film Someone in a Private Library Cubicle?

I'm a college student and our school library recently bought a bunch of new office furniture. Today, the company came to the library to make a film to promote their products. I was sitting in a computer cubicle (there are tall sides to the computer desk so others can't see what's on your screen and so you aren't distracted by others---It's like a partially closed off area.) I saw that he was filming students that were in the open--like going up to the printer to collect their print outs.

I just assumed--"Oh no big deal---I'm in my little cubicle so he can't see me any way" (I didn't want to be filmed. A while later, I look up and the camera man is standing on a tall stool and angling the camera downward in order to see over my privacy camera. It was the creepiest thing because he was just staring at me for like 1 minute and I'm just sitting there typing on my computer!!! After they were done, I saw that they were going up to people that they filmed and asked them to sign a privacy release. I explained that I didn't want to sign one and they said "That's fine"

Does that mean that they can't use their film of me?? Because I didn't sign their release? It was a close up shot of my face.

Shouldn't they have fricken asked my permission first to film me??? I didn't even know I was being filmed.

You have no expectation of privacy in a public place.

Is it Ok to Film Someone in an Enclosed Library Cubicle?

They were getting candid shots. A lot of film-makers do it. They prefer not to ask before shooting because people will act to the camera, and it often looks unnatural. If you did not sign the privacy release, they are legally bound not to put any film of you in their final project. You don't have to worry. They will throw out the part of the film that you are in.

What do teens like to have in a lirbarie besides books?

We are redoing our library soon and it is at a local high school. I would like to know what teens would like to have there. I need furniture ideas as well as material they would like to have available to them. Thanks!

I'm confused. I'm assuming you're an adult if you're asking this - perhaps a school official - yet your original spelling of 'library' is incorrect. :/

We are now in the 3rd qtr of school, and I STILL don't have a classroom. Advice from other teachers, please!!?

Sorry this is a bit long but it's easy to follow. Okay, a little background. I was hired as a first grade teacher back at the end of July. Our school started August 3rd. I was told AFTER being hired (and contracted) that my portable classroom did not have electricity, and that it would be a few weeks before it was run to the portable buildings. The other teacher in the same predicament got hired before me and holds her class in the science lab. It is now January 11 and we have been in school over 5 months. Second semester and third quarter have begun. There is still no electricity for my classroom. Back in September, I brought my stuff up, put my room together and am ready to go (except they have yet to provide furniture, either, so there are no desks, tables or a file cabinet). While this is going on, I also do have an assigned student roll. I have 18 kids on my class roll...they are peppered into 5 other 1st grade classrooms. I visit each class once a day (usually...if they have computer or library, I don't see them at all) so I essentially teach MY students each subject one time or less a week. I am held 100% accountable for them, their grades, their DIBELS, etc. I've been pulled to substitute in my grade level as well as other grade levels, but am still responsible for my kids. While I don't mind doing whatever is asked of me, I can't see HOW I can be held accountable for 'my' students in this situation. I just want to quit. I'm looking into private schools now and just mailed out some resumes. But until then, does anyone have any advice? I'm ready to just walk out.

I hope you joined your union when you began working. You need to call them immediately. Check your contract. See what the job description is as listed in your contract. Also check to see what is required in the event that you want to quit. Many teaching contracts do not allow you to quit without some sort of penalty. Your union will be able to give you the best advice. They will advise you on what your rights and options are. Worst case scenario would be to stick it out for this year then put in for a transfer next year. It doesn't seem as if this school has any sense of urgency or respect for your time and capabilities.

What' the name of this book?! I need MAJOR HELP!?

Well, there was this book I rented from the school library. I loved it. Unfortunately, that was 2 years ago. And I don't remember the name of the book. D: It was about this very smart male. He graduated from high school really early, he was smart, and had money. He moved to this new mysterious house, I think so. That house gets many strange mail sent there. The man thinks that it is junk mail. So he uses his imagination and uses the mail to make furniture like, chairs, etc. xD He starts getting very suspicious about all this junk mail he gets everyday. The man can't find the mailing address or ANYTHING.So one day, he starts thinking, "Whatever, it's probably all fake." So he fills out this form and crap and mails it in. Then the next day or so. He gets some weird crates though the mail. He is afraid to open them. So, he finally opens them and he finds... CHILDREN! In the crates! Strangely enough, the children have strange powers and crap. So, one day he has a party at his big house, and the workpeople see these children and ask who they are, he gets nervous, and he say's he is a "foster parent." xD So the man tries to find where these children come from, and he tries to investigate this strange mailing company.

If anyone knows the name of this book, I will surely GREATLY love you! I really liked this book, it was funny, and so random. Please, please, PLEASE. I just ask for the name of this book. Thank you for your time!
Nope, I don't remember anything. Dx
Oh, but I'm sure it wasn't horror or romance or anything.
Sallie Lowenstein is the author. I remember. It is also the Lion Stone Books publishing co.

This book will create a magical journey for people big and small. The storyline is wonderful, and is very creative. The story is about a misfit genius, that moves into an old house. he orders from the catalogs, to buy gifts for his relatives and friends, only to find that the toys he took for "dolls" and "action figures" turn out to be real, living, breathing yet magical creatures. The misfit genius ends up taking care of all 12, and this story tells you what happened, how, and the adventures they go through.
