I live in Pasadena and am looking for theater set design school near here.But I have to go back to Japan after 1 year so I hope it have short term. I like to create set so if you know some good affordable school,please tell me.

I need suggestions for a play that could be performed in high school with minimal set design and or set changes
Our Town is a play often done by high school theatre companies. It is usually done as a minimalist production. It is also a very thought-provoking piece.
Also, a lot of Shakespeare plays can be done minimalist since most of the art is in the language.

During the summer I would like to work backstage at a set design type job. Without any direct connections how can I find a job like such preferably with some pay?
I am definitely not thinking of upscale set designs such as Broadway plays but maybe summer theater camps that need set work done. Do such summer jobs even exist? I hope.
I am interested in design, mostly interior. Any suggestions of interesting job or intern type of things I can do during the summer?

If there is a community theater in your area, volunteer there. Or your local community college. You may not get paid, but if you do that this summer, you can put something on a resume and maybe get paid next summer.

What are the best set design schools here in California? I'm probably majoring in film..
FIDM is an excellent design school. There is one in the Bay area and I think they opened one in So Cal.
My cousin is interested in theater costume design or theater set design. What are some good programs/schools? Also do you have to go into a general theater studies program first and then specialize? I have no idea on any of these subjects and it would be great if someone could help.
Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising or FIDM as it is known better. Whatever they want to do with clothes, they can definitely do it here. It's in California by the way.

Ceramics Graduates Join International Elite
(Media-Newswire.com) - A record number of artists who studied at Bath Spa University have been selected for the UK's leading international ceramics exhibition.
Nine out of the 75 exhibitors chosen for Ceramic Art London 2010 are graduates from BA or MA Ceramics courses in Bath Spa University's School of Art and Design.

‘Ding’ Steamer Set for Jia
The Hong Kong based Office for Product Design have designed the latest addition to their ‘Ding’ Series for JIA, a steamer set which was recently launched at Maison et Objet in Paris.
About the Project
Steaming food is one of the healthiest ways of cooking and is becoming increasingly popular around the world. It is also a common method of cooking in Chinese cuisine. Building on this the Office for Product Design has reinterpreted the classic Chinese steamer and pot for Chinese focused homeware brand JIA giving it a modern twist.
The ‘Ding Steamer’ set consists of a cooking pot with an accompanying cedar wood steamer basket. This steamer set differs from most in that it has a terracotta base, a material ideally suited to steam cooking as it absorbs and retains excess moisture, thus stopping the food from becoming soggy. The pot itself is made from glazed fireproof ceramic which is highly resilient and can be placed directly on top of a heat source or used separately for oven cooking.
