what are the advantages of wearing CIVILIAN CLOTHES over wearing a uniform to SCHOOL?

I'm doing a paper, and I'm lacking one argument. I'm ANTI-uniform, and so far, I only have: Not having a uniform 1) gives more comfort, and 2) promotes individualism. I should have 3. So please please please HELP! I'M ANTI-UNIFORM, so I need ADVANTAGES of CIVILIAN CLOTHING.

If you are against the idea of wearing CIVILIAN CLOTHING to school, and wouldn't be able to give an argument favoring civilian, might as well not answer. The "School uniform is better because it looks more decent thing" wouldn't be helping me, or answering this question, AT ALL. Thank you. Please help! =(

10 Points for whoever gives me a SOLID answer.

One of the ideas behind school uniforms is that it will lessen 'bullying and teasing' because everyone is wearing the same thing.
But kids are going to find reasons to tease about thousands of things, even with uniforms.
These uniforms are usually expensive, some parents/kids can't afford them.
Uniforms will lead to students using other forms of fashion expression, if that is what you want to call it, such as makeup or jewelry or hairstyles. By doing this students are rebelling against the uniform code anyways. The argument built here is that uniforms do not stop students from forming groups like they are intended to.
School uniforms are wasteful once the child is out of school.
A school uniform imposes on a students freedom of choice.
Hope I helped!

Edit:
Uniforms are expensive and cost parents money, regardless of what others say on here. That argument will not backfire on you.
Think about it.. if you have to wear a uniform your parents have to buy this uniform, most likely more than 1 so they wash less and then they have to buy you clothes to wear on weekends, days off, and holidays.

DEER VALLEY AGAINST SCHOOL UNIFORMS

this is a look into what the students at dv actually think about a possible school uniform policy.

Are you pro or anti school uniforms and why?

They both have some benefits and some detriments but uniforms become a problem when they're too strict. When your socks have to be a certain length and a skirt has to come down to the girl's calves.

Whats a good slogan for anti uniform?

In my LA class, my teacher put me in the group that's against uniforms in school and we need to come up with a slogan for it. Got any ideas?

should i transfer out of my uniform school to go to regular school?

i don't really like the environment and the characters there and i seem to be a little anti-social. okay i want to transfer to a school that doesn't wear uniform so i can express myself better and be around regular kids.

It really depends on what your late life goals are.

While expressing yourself and making friends IS very important, it's shown private/uniformed schools tend to have better curriculum and children are much less distracted from their studies by one another. You'll have a better chance at getting a higher paying job and access to nicer colleges if you remain in your uniformed school. While it may be a little rough now I assure you most of your closest friends tend to be made outside of school and the drama at a public school can be intense and highly stressful.

On the flip side, if college/work isn't too important to you or you feel you've got the skills, education, networking, and finances available to you to get ahead in life then going to a public school with a more relaxed environment might be the right choice. I definitely understand the need to express yourself and it's hard to get across who you are when you look just like everyone else. You can express yourself outside of school for sure, but you're around a lot of your peers during school hours and this is peak time to develop lasting social skills and graces.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you weigh your options carefully and definitely speak with multiple sources on the matter. Getting one opinion isn't a very good pool to select from.

Just make sure you make the right choice and try to figure out a good balance between fun and education because I assure you once you leave school it's the education that matters. So many people wish they could go back and pay more attention in school. If you think you'll honestly be too distracted by your peers then DO NOT switch out. Likewise if you feel the school you're in now is too distracting then definitely get out!

Best of luck and make sure you ask your parents the pros and cons of it all as well.

Whats better School Uniforms or Regular clothing?

I'm a sophomore in highschool.YAY!!!!! And I think school uniforms r rockin, everyone says i love cute in it, but then again regular clothing is cool 2, but my school is anti outside my uniform clothing unless its like dress down day, but anyway, maybe my school can do like a petition too like do dress down day more often, but idk, I love my school uniform we all look like perfect dolls, with our awesome uniforms.

I used to love wearing uniforms. it really just depends on the person. Your not a retard for loving them. he is a retard for being unkind. Anyway, I also love the idea of being unique. I guess it really doesnt matter to me. But i think some people, can look so cool in uniforms.

  • What are you wearing first day of school, ladies?

I’m wearing a green lacy tank from Hollister, with a pair of jean shorts from Abercrombie & Fitch (longer ones, not the short short sluty ones) – and my new Kate Spade purse. It’s got different shades of pink stripes, and a thin green stripe in the middle to match the tank. For shoes, probably just white flipflops? For my hair, I’m going to straighten it with light curls on the top layer. For jewelry, some simple diamond earrings =]

haven’t really gone shopping yet, but I usually end up wearing some really cool jeans with a graphic tee, or a cute baby doll top with some flats. I’ll probably wear my hair down and straight, and as for jewelry just something that matches. I don’t like to bring a purse to school because my book bag fits everything I need and with a book bag and gym bag, and ocassionally lunch bag to carry I don’t need the extra baggage. So yea. What your wearing sounds cute though.
