More specifically I guess what Im looking for is the jacket that seems common in these shows as a school uniform jacket. Rather than any blazer Ive found online what im looking for are the ones with high necks (not folded over) and nice metal looking (probably gold) buttons. If anyone knows what Im talking about Id appreciate the help in finding it.
I know it's a site that is recommended often, but in this case it really is true: Ebay. That would probably be the easiest way. Hope you find what you're looking for :)
school uniforms of asian pupils:) music: interpret: guru josh project title: infinity 2008
I read that Asians go to school six times a day in Japan and the parents put a lot of pressure on their child to succeed. There school requires student to dress in uniform and they teach their kids honor and value.
Asian school have very high standards in courses such a science, math and stuff while American standards are set on very low.
Well, I think you answered your question in your description. Our kid's aren't dumber, they're more neglected.
Update: You can really tell on this board who knows something about education and who doesn't. I mean, answers that are spot on are given thumbs down and then there is suddenly an ignorant, political based comment at the end. Millions of American children don't get an education, even though it's compulsory, this happens by rural and inner city schools receiving less funding than affluent schools. But it's a common practice of the expediently ignorant to claim everything in America is fair and balanced. I've never understood those who use sophisms and rhetoric as their basis of logic...see Rush Limbaugh.
okay you know the deal...red plaid mini skirt, white blouse, and blue blazer jacket. like the uniform the young asian girl wore in Kill Bill. MANN i neeed to get it IM DESPERATE for help!!
P.S. the items can be from seperate places or bought seperately.
-thanks if you know something!
you can get a blouse at ae as well as academy skirts in plaid but you'd have to wait for the red ones to arrive. No blazers though.
I have seen in all Asian countries ( Japan, China, India, Malaysia and Singapore etc..) have a certain rule for students to wear uniform until they graduate High school.
Im an eighth grade student from India living in America.
At my school they were planning on having a dress code
but so many students cared about their stuiped individuality and
trust me YOU DO NOT WANT TO SEE WHAT THEY MEAN BY
INDIVIDUALITY!!! Although Im the only person who finds
their point of veiw ridiculous. I mean individuality is individual and
the public is not a place to be individual because it is PUBLIC,
I really do not know why Americans care so much about their individuality. I mean Im glad I have my mind to my self atleast
or maybe I do not really care about my individuality because
I had experience going to school in Singapore, India and Africa
and those kids do not seem to mind unlike bratty American kids.
Hi, (don't mind the username, it's my bad humor)
Our school policy for dress codes is pretty much locked- solid cargo pants/shorts w/ uniform T-shirt. I was wondering what to do with my hair, etc. I am open to suggestions- I am 4' 7" or something like that, light-medium tanned Asian, black hair, which is short-medium cut, a bit like a bowl, really, and 10 pounds overweight. I also need tips on how to act to people on the first day. Do I say Hi to them or introduce myself? Do I act funny or be the quiet kid? I already have 7 friends that go to the school I'm going to, and they're older, so I have the upper hand. So just give tips, ok?
Oh yeah, no one in my county except for my dad has the same taste in music like I do. Even with the simplest of bands. Example:
Me: Do you know who Chuck Berry is?
other: No, who's he? Some rapper?
Me: Clash?
other: an orchestra?
Me: Dick Dale?
other: Is that a race car driver?
You get the point.
I'm a guy. :(
Just be yourself. There really isn't any need to try to be somebody your not. Wear your hair/clothing how ever you do on a usual day.
If you have classes with your friends then hang around with them and eventaully you will get to know others. If you don't, then introduce yourself to others if you feel comfortable with that. If not then don't feel pressured to do something you don't want to. When I entered middle school and even highschool I didn't have much classes with my friends, but by the end of the year I made a whole new group of friends.
I'm sure you'll have a great first day and a fun year! Just remember to do your actually school work :)
Going troppo for Thai
Richard Cornish surveys Darwin's food markets in search of authentic Asian flavours.
T HE smell of deep-fried food fills the air as the sun sets bloody red into the storm clouds building over the Arafura Sea. Normally languid Darwin is comparatively frenetic as locals and tourists, united in a uniform of thongs, shorts and singlets, hurry for a plate of food to eat on Mindil Beach. The market here has become an international tourist destination - a kind of Top End hawkers' market on a beach. We are in town for the weekend seeking a hit of great Asian food.
Being so close to South-East Asia and with a tropical climate, the immigrants who arrive from the countries to our north find it easy to grow the herbs, fruits and vegetables of their homeland. They can cook the food they are familiar with.
Last time I was in the Territory, I had eaten the best Thai food outside Thailand. The Thai chef had married a local man who grew 12 types of basil and half a dozen different chillies for his wife's kitchen. She pounded out pastes for her curries fresh to order from the garden. That was September 11, 2001, and, apparently, a lot has changed in the world since then.
School Uniforms Getting Shorter in Seoul « Asian Correspondent
While Japan-level lengths haven't been reached, the Chosun Ilbo reports that female students at an unnamed arts high school in Seongdong-gu have taken to shortening the skirts of their school uniforms. The school has no restrictions in place, so the students are free to do as they please. Apparently the girls enjoy making their friends at other schools envious.
The accompanying photos set a new standard for perviness at the Chosun, where already on any given day the majority of popular photo galleries are basically porn. There's also a long accompanying article which I don't have time to translate right now. The casting couch is a well-known and *ahem* ubiquitous problem in Korea. It is systemic to the point that actresses and female singers can't get choice roles without giving it up. Many choose not to, and they are not promoted or are given crap roles for years. Breaking out with the deck stacked against...
