I was under the impression that most schools in Australia, private and public require uniforms. Then someone who has spent most of his life in Australia said that uniforms are the norm only in private schools. The person who told me that lived in Perth, Western Australia if that matters.

In about a week i will be going to Australia for a few months, and will be attending school while there. What do the boys school uniforms look like, or consist of?
Also, im not sure what grade/school i would be in, i know they have different names over there (im 13)
Pretty much Black leather shoes, Grey/black pants and a white shirt. But it might vary from school to school. All i know is this is what school kids in VIC wear

e.g German schools have no uniform, australian schools do.
And is a german school principal called a 'director' or something like that?
Okay, Ive never been at an australien school, but I lived my whole life in Germany(now I moved to the US)...
So, yea we have no uniforms and the principal is called "Schulleiter" or sometimes we call him director. We usually have school from 7.50am to 1pm, but it changes with your schedule. So sometimes, school strted for me at 9.35am and ends at 4.15pm. It varies all year. We have 13 years at school if we like to do our "Abitur" its something like high school diploma, but it's harder (my friend did both in germany and australia). We have 3 types of school : hauptschule, realschule and gymnasium which u have to attend from 5th- 13th grade, but hauptschule just goes till 9th grade and realschule to 10th grade. Hauptschule is for people who are not that good at school and realschule for people who are "okay" at school. You are only allowed to study if you went to gymnasium and graduated.
We have two hours of gym class a week and we have to learn english. when u are at gymnasium you have to learn a second foreign language like latin, french or spanish.
We usually have breaks after every second hour for 15 or 20 mins, but we dont have a "lunch"break(some schools have).
I think thats all :)
Schools just in darwin would be ok but both would muchly appriecated:)

State Flag: The flag, designed by Robert Ingpen, a Victorian illustrator uses the Territorial colors (black, white and ochre) and Sturt's Desert Rose with seven petals on a red ochre background. It features the Southern Cross in white on a black panel at the left.
I can't find any schools with those colors..........If you go according to territory flags and state flags the colors would be yellow and blue.......
the school colors for the Aussie schools are listed as the colors of the flags.

My first Sunday Age story
As it actually turns out I don't mind a bit of pressure, and as I've mentioned before, I love working within boundaries. I've noticed when I run writing workshops with kids, that they do, too. If you give a bunch of kids a pen and paper and say 'Write a story' they will all stare at you blankly, but if you say 'Write a story about a dragon, or a mud-fight, or the the most embarrassing thing you remember' you barely get the last word of your sentence out before they are madly scratching away. I'm the same. Give me some parameters and I can reign that wandering mind of mine in enough to know where to start. I knew that I was being asked to write a multicultural story because I had published quite a few children's books with Asian-Australian characters, the 'Fang Fang' stories being the most well-known. Having grown up in South-East Asia myself, changing schools every two years and often arriving in a place where no one around me spoke English, I am often drawn to stories of 'the outsider'....
