is the scarf the people wear with the stripes actually mentioned in the books, or did they make it up just for the movies.(i only read 2 of the books but dont remember anything about a scarf with stripes)
No it is definitely not in the books. The only school clothes they are supposed to wear are plain black robes and a pointed black hat.

In Harry Potter what is the school uniform for Girls and Boys. Also, do they have a PE uniform?
they don't have a PE uniform since they don't have PE
and the uniform for girls is a knee length grey skirt, a white button-up shirt, a tie, and the cape thing. for guys its the same thing except with pants
I have to dress as one of the characters from Harry Potter for an upcoming party but I don't know who to go as!

2. I have long, dark hair and dark eyes
3. I want to go as someone recognisable i.e. i don't just want to dress up in the school uniform and have to explain who I am- there must be something that makes it obvious who I am

Harry Potter costumes I’m not as familiar with the details of the school uniforms as I could be, but I was really pleased with how simple it seemed to be for the younger Harry Potter fans to put together a school uniform that looked real to my eyes. These guys have the robes, of course, but I saw many without the robes that still looked quite nice.
