Kids School Uniform

I visited a website and there was this discussion about wearing uniforms after school. Some of these kids claimed their parents made them wear their school uniform after school. Some of these uniforms included ties and dress shoes! Ever heard of this? Don't most kids change after school? More of these kids I'm speaking of lived in the U.K. There were even parents claiming they did this.

I have heard stories of such kids, maybe their parents want to save laundry or then their families were so poor they couldn´t afford more outfits for their children. I also heard some legends from families that make the kids wear uniform for some disciplinarian reasons - That´s weird!

Did not have a whole uniform but I had a dress code at some of my schools (like dress shirt and a tie). I can recall that during some high school years the school dress didn´t really bother me. My parents did not require to ether wear it or change it. So maybe most time I did change the whole outfit, some times I took just my tie off or changed in to jeans and kept the shirt on. Quit often I did not change at all (I was too busy to do other things than getting changed and it did not bother me or anyone else). And I kind of liked the smart outfit.

Ok I need help with getting these uniform colors together like what goes with what. I want to make a list for the kids like day to day with which color combinations would go good together can anyone help please? What we have ....

Shirts- white, dark blue, red, green, light blue, yellow,
Skort- kahki, plaid (has mostly blue and green in it)
Shorts- kahki, dark blue
I haven't bought any pants yet for the kids. Thank you! I was thinking maybe getting the dark blue school dresses or kahki dresses also that you add a shirt under, what do you think? Thx

white shirt and dark blue skirt is a common uniform combination
white and red looks like Japanese school girl
white shirt and light blue looks british / english
i dont like green, looks too hmm rural

hmm.blue dresses with white shirts under are good for the girls
or blue plaid skirt with red in it or ; yellow skirts match with yellow ribbon on the shirt for girls is okay also

blue pants for boys, white shirts with a little necktie-light blue and white stripes is good

I cannot understand this. Its obviously a sign of parental neglect. Surely someone should be responsible for these kids and their wellbeing if their parents have no clue?

Not good, but what is worse I think is parents who also don't make their kids go to school much at all (happens a fair bit where I live). Maybe what is out on the streets is better than what is at home, and/or parents just don't know or care about good parenting responsibilities. Perhaps your community could start up a youth group centre if one does not exist (we have that where I live a few days a week after school, run by volunteers and the police - the kids do go there). Can include sporting activities to give them something more constructive to do, and teach them about community.

Their uniform costs are extortionate and i am buying for two kids so it's double the cost. I am buying the blazers from Marks Spencer as its cheaper and I plan to put the school logo badge on it if it is available. Can u believe its £32 for a track suit for an 11 year old. The track suit is a shell suit with a logo but theyve said I can just get black track suit. So I've bought a plain black one obviously its not a shell suit cos i cant find em anywhere, would that be a problem? They've asked for football boots, shin pads, trainers it all adds up so what if I cant afford all the exact things they ask for?

I work in a school. First thing to do is to speak to the school. Some schools have spare uniforms for parents who cannot afford it, accidents in school with uniform etc. SOme may have funds that you can take advantage of if you do not qualify for local authority assistance.

Before buying the blazer, check that the logo is available. My school logo is not available without purchasing the "official" blazer.

If you are unable to buy the uniform before the first day of term go with your child to school. Try to arrive before school start time and ask to speak to someone. Hopefully they wll assist you with a solution to the problem.

Please do not be embarassed, I feel that uniform prices are extortionate. Any good school will be considerate and hopefully this will prevent your children from being sent home. The problem is that if they are not in uniform they are breaking school rules.
