what are the pros and cons on going to a uniform public school?

Im going to a private school and im moving to a uniformed public school next year? what is it like? im really scared! and please dont say ohh ur a rich kid because i thats really hurtful and i know that these kids are snobs and thats another reason im leaving.

why would we say that? lol u sound like a really nice person :] lol my friend goes to a privite school and she's very nice. :] ok so to answer ur question... it will be harder to get dressed in the morning lol u dont just get to wake up and put on the same outfit u do everyday..but its really fun pickin out ur own outfits and lets u epress you :]...privite schools say that they have uniforms so everyone will be equal and no one is put down bc of the clothes they wear, but the truth is, that doesnt really happen..well... no unless u come to school wearing like a wicked slutty outfit or like hobo clothes llol..and im sure u would do that lol ( but u nvr kno.. jk lol) and dont be scared ur gonna have so much fun and public school is gonna be a lot less strict.. i kno cuz i used to go to a prvite school when i was little ( ..and with nuns -.-) not a real good experience...lol..but it was totally different when i started going to public school and i even had fun at school..it will be really easy to make friends and ur gonna have a great time!! just have fun, be urslef, and dont worry a bit :]

Uniforms in Public Schools

Why I think children should wear uniforms in public schools

Is it okay to wear a uniform to a public school?

I go to a public school and they don't require students to wear a uniform. But I personally adore the uniforms and wish they did require them. And so I was just wondering if it would be okay for me to wear a uniform...?

Public school uniform opt out Religion?

Our local district is pushing the notion of school uniforms, and as a freedomloving American I would very much like to opt out of this for my children. In many cases, the districts will only allow opt out for religious reasons (burka, etc.) We are Catholic. Is there any reason, even an unreasonable one, that I can use to opt out for religious reasons being Catholic?

A note of irony. I attended catholic schools from first grade through law school, and I never had to wear a uniform!

I don't think there are any religious grounds to oppose uniforms. It is too bad the can't use "standardized apparel" as opposed to actual uniforms. Like certain color choices( usually black, white, gray,) buttoned polo shirt and shorts/pants ( skorts/skirts and pants for girls). Here some public schools have adopted it with 2/3 parent approval required and at least 51 of parents responding.

I went until 3rd grade( and had ugly uniforms )when I got kicked out for questioning the brothers and nuns too much.

Sister Mary Margaret-" God is watching"
Me- " Does he watch when I go to use the toilet too?"
Off to the office I went....

Whats the deal with public school uniform? (In Australia)?

There is this teacher at my public high school who is going out of her way to get me in trouble any way she can, and this time she has decided to use uniform.
But at my school, uniform is optional, and they recommend that you wear the colour code if you chose to not wear the uniform. I choose not to wear uniform or colour code, but both of these are only recommended, so is it right for her to send letters home to my parents telling them I've done something wrong?

If it's in the school handbook that this stuff is optional then surely your parents will know you've done nothing wrong irregardless of what the teacher may allege in her letters, and that this particular teacher and her letters are all no more than a storm in a teacup. Then presumably they won't take any notice of these letters or give them any more credence than they deserve. So why bother worrying; just have your mum chuck the teacher's letters in the bin (if she doesn't do so anyway) and go on your own sweet way. And if the teacher goes on groundlessly complaining about you, talk to your tutor, head of year or her head of department (depending how the complaints' procedure goes in your school) about it.

Maybe you ought to be talking to them irregardless and asking them if they would help mediate the relationship between you and this teacher if you seriously reckon you're not goading her in any way, be it deliberately or not, are honestly doing nothing whatsoever to aggravate her and she is just picking on you out of the blue and for no reason.

'Course your understanding of the word 'recommended' may not be the same as this particular teacher's understanding or even the school's understanding of the word 'recommended'.

Is the school trying to 'encourage' students to wear its uniform/recommended colours?

Do you ever get any comments from any other teachers about what you're wearing?

If not, I'd say this teacher's issues with you are probably more a result of a personality clash between the two of you. In which case you may have to bring in someone else to mediate between the two of you or failing that, send your parents to the school to ask that you be moved out of her lessons.

'Course if any other teachers have an issue with your choice of clothes you may want to rethink what you're wearing to school; rethink if going your own sweet way just for the hell of it because the school rules say you can is really worth the trouble (whether truly justified or not) and if it would not make things easier to just go with the school's dress code, if you don't want to go as far as wearing the actual school uniform.

Should I have my child wear a school uniform at a public school where there is none?

If you have questions... I will answer

Well see what he/she thinks if they are strongly against it don't because it will just make their school life miserable, and if they dont have two ways about it, sure why not? It should depend on the child not you, it is his/her school year, and wearing clothes that make him/her uncomfortable will not make school as enjoyable.

  • Public School dress code and supplies help!? | Book for Everyone

The dress code will depend on what school you go to, Lots of public schools nowadays require a uniform, but lots do not. Besides pencils and paper, I wouldn’t invest in too many supplies until after the first day of school, because each teacher will have their own requirements. They may have this list made up ahead of time, so you might be able to get the list from the school office so you can get your stuff before the first day. Some schools have restrictions on the type of bookbag you can have, things like that.

According to the rules at YA! you’re supposed to be 13 to post questions, aren’t you?

Every school has their own dress code so you have to contact the school to get that information.

For 5th grade every teacher asks for specific supplies in their classroom and they will tell you what you need on the first day. But when i was in 5th grade i just needed the basics:

Notebook (just get a one subject notebook for the first day and then the teacher will tell you what to get)
