Hi. I'm from rome and now i'm moving to London. My parents said that in every school in London it's obligatory to wear the uniform... Is it real? Do you know some schools in the center where you don't wear uniform? it's really important. Thanks!

It's common for all schools in the UK to wear a uniform, and if you go to one of these schools then you must wear the uniform regardless of whether you like it or not.

There are schools that do not have uniforms, particularly private schools or schools for ethnic minorities.

Statistically, if you are going to a state school then you will have to wear a uniform. However, do not believe what you see on TV. A lot of what you see on TV is faked up for US audiences and or is representative only of very expensive private schools.

In reality most children just wear gray or black trousers/skirts with white shirts and colored blazers and ties. This carries on until you are 16, then in many schools you can wear general office clothes such as a shirt and tie of any color that you like.

Almost no schools anywhere in the country will let you wear jeans or sneakers, and if you try to wear fancy designed labels or carry expensive designer purses in school you risk getting beaten up as the British really hate that kind of showing off.

To be honest with you guys, i saw a very pretty girl in Toa payoh centre this friday 13th july 2007, and she was asking for donations for charity, And she wasn't wearing school uniform, maybe PE T-shirt, but i saw her friends were wearing a light-green uniform, have any idea what school they are from? Thanks alooooooooot!

I'm buying my own track uniform for school and I would be getting mine from the same place as my school gets them but they come blank and I need to figure out how to get my schools name put on the center of the front of my singlet. The names are either in silkscreen or iron on (and if iron on how do i get a heavy duty one that wont peel crack after a few days?
