We have to talk about pros and cons of wearing school uniforms. What's a cool title I can use? Thanks!
The Dark Side of Conformity
2001. Video journalist Sean Feeney investigates claims by proponents of school uniforms and concludes that they do not truly live up to their hype ...
I am writing an affirmative speech for school uniforms. One of my points is that wearing school uniforms will help transition into the real world where many occupations also have uniforms.
I need some quotes/reasons...from CREDIBLE sources.
Thanks!
As a parent with several children attending schools with uniform policies, I strongly support school uniforms for many reasons.
For documentation on this particular point, try googling Judith Rasband, or her company, Conselle. She has good information on the problems associated with the undressing of America, and she and other personal image consultants have information on the specific messages of various style elements. Judith's "Style Scale" (on the web in her ed week handout) visually presents a good way to address clothing elements with your child or with another audience without being subjective. Some of her articles also give good reasons for schools to rule out the deconstruction and lingerie-inspired trends, so common today. It seems that an increase in casual sex and sex crimes among students is part of a related trend.
(The rest of this is, perhaps, anecdotal or soapbox grandstanding.)
Schoolchildren are to be about the business of learning, and their wardrobes are a resource which, if properly managed, may be used to help them succeed. Uniforms are not only valuable as training for a time when their profession may require them to comply with a work-related dress standard; well-chosen uniforms (and other clothing) communicate important messages about capacity and dependability which are received---and reinforced---by the student wearers and by viewers alike. Unfortunately, many young people are growing older without awareness of the impact of their own personal image; they sabotage their potential to succeed because they look---and behave---like they are temporary, rebellious and irresponsible.
Carefully-selected and properly-worn uniforms communicate reliability, capability and intelligence. When my two oldest children participated as finalists in a state-wide contest, students who were not dressed in uniform-type clothing felt themselves at a disadvantage, when compared with "those smart kids." And the advantage was perceived also by those who were dressed up---they felt smarter (or at least more confident about their preparation) than those who were dressed down.
What about you? If your estate or freedom were in jeopardy, would you apply for help from an attorney wearing beach slippers and a crumpled Aloha shirt, or would you look for a guy who reminds you of Perry Mason? How much other research and assurance would convince you that Mr. Aloha is better qualified and ought to be your man? Similarly, as your bright child interacts with teachers and faculty and with community, university and business leaders, effectively managing his appearance and behaviors may make the difference in his success. What happens when two apparently equally well-prepared and similarly-dressed job applicants apply for a professional position? Employers will often let the applicants' shoes and socks be the deciding factor.

Hey guys. The teacher gave us an assignment to join the debate and we have to write some good points against wearing school uniforms. Please give me some good stuff to say in this debate!
+everyone look same
+smart
+practical cos of pockets (if u have blazers)
-Not suitable for weather- can get too hot/ cold
-people can wear it wrong - top button undone, shirt out e.g and then it looks worse
And if its nonuniforme then ppl can show personality, wear stuff suitable for weather however more ppl ma ybe bullied cos of what they wear and some ppl may wear unsuitable stuff
DEBATE : School uniform should not be abolished.?
I need points disagreeing to that statement :
School uniform should be abolished.
I am actually agreeing to the statement but this is an impromptu debate so we aren't sure if we are on the government team or opposition.
Anyone has points for me? Please and thank you :)
I say no uniforms because:
They ruin your sense of style
They don't save you any money
If you wanted to have a job, you can show that (fashion designer can design her own clothes wear them and show them off etc)
A lot of kids have them.
???
That's it.

Who’s Hot
Edith Ajello & Helio Melo -> Two excellent picks by House Speaker Gordon Fox. While most saw Melo stepping into Steven Costantino’s role as Finance Chair, Ajello’s appointment as chair of Judiciary Committee came as somewhat of a surprise and is considered a major victory for Progressives throughout the state.
Sandra Powell -> After Lincoln Chafee was blasted by former NAACP President Cliff Montiero for replacing Powell as DLT Director, it’s nice to see the Governor step up and make her head of Human Services.
Jim Vincent -> An excellent choice to help move the NAACP forward in Rhode Island. Vincent is new-media savvy and is visible thanks to his Sunday morning talk show. It will be interesting to see if he is as outspoken as his predecessor.
Lt. Governor Roberts ->
