I am taking a poll for my persuasive speech on school uniforms. I am all for uniforms since I went to a private school for much of my schooling. But I am in a public college with no uniforms, so I have experience from both sides. But I would like to conduct this survey to get feedback to help emphasize why school uniforms should continue to serve some schools. But if you disagree, this will help show the other side to this topic.
My question is: Should we have school uniforms or spend 10-15 minutes every morning deciding what to wear to school that day?
Type A for School Uniforms
Type B for No Uniforms

I can not believe that Year 7's wear not propwer School Trousers - if at my old School we ha, we would of been on detention for a week or 2 in Year 7.
When I was in Year 7/First Year, it was Year 11's that never wore the correct Shirt or wore their Tie totaly wrong. My question is which year's would you say don't break the rules and do break the rules regarding uniform?. Year 7, 8, 9 10 or 11?. If you can answer please which ?.
I would say that every year brakes the rules if they do it
Cause more non-Uniform items like Tracksuit Bottoms and Trainers to be worn than say if the Uniform was a Blazer/Shirt Uniform?

I always couldn't understand why my kids had to wear a tie hidden under a crew necked sweatshirt at secondary school. Back in the day we all wore delightful v-necked jumpers or if you were really posh a cardy. Woe betide if they were hand knitted.

The reason I say that is becasue I think that a lot of kids get made fun of because of what they wear. It's not they're fault they can't afford better clothes. So, with uniforms everyone is equal.
This is more just a poll than an actual question. The elementary school our daughter attends is moving to a uniform policy/dress code in the fall. They are mandating that the kids wear khaki, navy or black pants or skirts (no denim), and a polo shirt in one of the school-chosen colors (red, navy, pink, white, black or light blue). While I am not against the dress code, I would also like our little girl to be able to express her individuality, within the guidelines. Do you think it would be okay if I sewed a couple skirts and jumpers for her to wear? I was thinking a khaki or navy jumper with a drop waistline and a flounce @ the bottom, or a navy pleated skirt with khaki insets in the pleats. The school has not stated that we have to buy the uniforms at any particular store, so there is some leeway there. Is this bucking the system too much?
I would okay it with the school first. The last thing you want is for her to get in trouble because you wanted to have her express her individuality. Plus, you don't want to waste the money. Having the children wear uniforms is supposed to suppress that "individuality" and make everyone the same clothes-wise, to cut down on bullying due to appearance. I have girls I babysit that wear uniforms and they wear adorable headbands, shoes, socks, etc. There are other ways for her to express her individuality. Other than that, I think the jumper sounds really cute! I always wished I had gone to a school that required uniforms.

I agree with uniform absolutely. It gives a feeling of belonging with every other student and being part of the whole organisation. Also, it does away with fashion competition which can be a nightmare for some children whose parents do not have the resources. These days the competion is in primaries as even the very young are bombarded with media adverts. Being isolated because you cannot keep up is detrimental to learning and the love of learning and the well being of the child. Joyce W.
I agree it ought to stop competition in fashions, but am unsure for primaries where growth is rapid, unless there is a strong tradition of hand-me-downs without stigma. But it needs to be one that will be willingly worn CORRECTLY. These days, blazer and tie may not be good enough any more. I regularly see Beverley Grammar pupils, with tie done up loosely, top button open, shirt tails out flapping. They look like St Trinians at its worst. Polo shirt and sweatshirt ought to be more acceptable to all, and certainly cheaper. And it should not be all black for summer use.
