Would it be considered tacky if a Japanese girl decided to wear her school uniform skirt with a different shirt other than her school uniform shirt?
I never saw anyone in Japan dress this way, so I think it would be considered weird. If I ever had seen a girl out wearing her uniform skirt and a non-uniform top, I probably would have assumed she was too poor to have any other skirts.
Japanese kids have to spend so much time in uniform that they're not going to want to wear any part of their uniform if they don't have to. Many of the uniform skirts aren't very fashionable, and in a girl's hometown everyone would recognize it as being the uniform from a particular school. I don't see any reason why a girl would want to wear her uniform skirt without the rest of her uniform clothes.

Why is it bad? Who cares what other people think? If you like your school skirt, then find a suitable top to go with it. Unless you plan on going topless. LOL

No not really if the skirt is pleated but yeah sure. It'll look better the other way around with a uniform shirt and blue jean skirt
I need to know what type of privacy or modesty shorts I need to get for next year's school uniform.
If u were going to go to a catholic co-ed school where they wear skirts a few inches above the knee (not too crazy high), are modesty shorts even needed?

Well, I wear them because I've taken more than my fair share of tumbles this year and don't need pervy little boys looking when I do. Also, I wear them when I wear a skirt because we get some chilly winters here, if that's not warm enough, try dark nylons or full length leggings
As for what kind, I just wear spandex! I have it for gymnastics already so it's easy. La Senza actually sells some!

PS: I don't go to a catholic school, but I wear skirts about once a week. If you have a store preference just say so, and I'll see if I can find what your looking for on their site!

FOR Clarissa Campton-Jones, getting ready for high school is all about the new uniform.
She was one of the first Year 7 students to buy Alstonville High School's new uniform yesterday
Her mum, Margaret Campton-Jones, of Casino, said the new plaid maroon skirt was ‘very smart'.
“We bought two pairs of walking shorts, the skirt, the sports uniform and a winter jacket, which cost us about $310 all up,” she said.
“It's four days' worth of clothes, so it's not too bad for what you get.”
It has been a long time since Alstonville High School changed its uniform.
But with this year being the school's 25th anniversary, Jane Sproule from the P&C said the time was right.
“We felt like we needed a change,” she said.
“The new maroon skirt will be compulsory for Year 7s and we will continue to phase it in over the coming years.”
Choosing the new uniform was a democratic process within the school. Uniform committee member Margaret Rigby said a group of students had helped choose a few different styles and materials. Students and teachers then voted on which one they liked best.
