Are we allowed to wear plain white shirts underneath say a vest for Catholic school uniforms?
Read. My. Fingers? 13/365

I'm going to a Catholic school that requires uniforms. Uniforms are a bit expensive so I'm wondering if wearing just self bought plain shirts/golf shirts are a good alternative to the expensive ones? I've got a couple of the real uniform shirts, but I want to see if I can use my own so I don't have to buy more.

Just as long as the shirts are the same. I know it's expensive. Just make sure you can't tell the difference. pants/skirt ( i don't know if your male of female) if your school shirts have the school logo on it you might want to buy that but if not. there's plenty of golf shirts now. the problem is if your wearing a vest when it gets hot teachers may allow you to take off the vest so just make sure the shirts are exactly the same. Basically don't let the nuns/sister tell the difference they will go crazy of a mismatched uniform. Catholic schools are normal very strict about uniform. example no painted nails no facial hair girls may only have a pair of earrings ( no hoops) .... they give you a whole rule book on it.

What can wear/do to stand out in a school uniform?
Stab-Proof School Vest

I'm still not sure which school I'll be attending in August, but basically in all of Puerto Rico's high schools the uniform is:
a plaid skirt
a yellow or white polo
navy blue vest
white socks
black school shoes that look like mary janes.

Since my next school MIGHT be a good public school their dress code is not very strict, so what could i do stand out in a sea of plaid and navy blue?

{{i love personalizing}}

wear cute accessories, like earrings, bracelets, necklaces.....a bright bag. you could wear a little scarf, thats trendy, or a headband..u could even decorate ur clothes, like ur vest would be easy to "personalize"

What does your school uniform look like, do you like it?

My parents sent me to a private school after we married. I now have to wear a white blouse with a green vest, plaid skirt and either blue, green or white tights or knee socks and simple black flats.

What does your uniform look like? Do you like it? What would you change?

i love my uniform i like it so much better then picking out clothes every morning and its not even ugly. its a navy blue plaid skirt, navy knee socks. and you have a choice of polo long sleeve polo white or light blue blouse with a sweater. and you can wear any black shoes you want.

I have the strictest school uniform code. How can I personalize my uniform? *going into middle school*

How can I customize this uniform without getting in trouble?

This is the school uniform list:

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

We believe that the dress code is an important component in promoting and teaching many characteristics that we feel are essential such as responsibility, accountability, attention to detail, and the importance of a neat and well-groomed appearance. There are guidelines that govern dress and grooming to ensure a relatively consistent appearance. Our uniform also serves as a reminder that each of our students is a part of something special and unique, something that is greater than they are. Thus there are guidelines that govern dress and grooming to ensure a consistency of appearance. (I hate our principal for this. Ha)

DRESS CODE

1.All attire must be neat, clean, and appropriately sized. (Neat? Clean?)

2. Clothing Identification: To facilitate the return of lost clothing, all items should be clearly labeled with nametags or indelible ink. (On everything? Even pants? Who is going to steal my pants?! Stealing pants is SO un-American.

3. Uniform clothing is required for all grades, K4 - 12th, and must be purchased from certain stores: (I’m not going to list them) AND meet the uniform requirements detailed at the bottom of this section.

SHIRTS (Girls and Boys):

***School insignia is required. ***

- Any T-Shirt worn under a knit shirt must be solid white. Long sleeved T-Shirts are not allowed underneath short sleeved knit shirts.
- All shirts must be worn tucked in at all times. (Nobody does. SO TAKE THAT!)

SWEATERS & SWEATER VESTS (Girls and Boys):

***School insignia is required. ***

SWEATSHIRTS (Girls and Boys):

***School insignia is required. ***

- No hooded sweatshirts allowed or sweatshirt jackets (why?)
- An approved collared shirt must be worn underneath sweatshirts at all times. (Collared?)

SLACKS & SHORTS (Girls and Boys):

- Slacks and shorts must have belt loops, must be worn with belts and must be fitted to the waist.
- Shorts must be no shorter than 4" above the knee.
- Boys short must be no longer than 3" below the knee.
- Pull on Style (K4 and K5 only)

SKIRTS (Girls):

- Skirts are to be fitted to the waist and no shorter than 4" above the knee.
- Shorts or tights must be worn underneath skirts (K4 - 5th) *of course underneath. Where else would they go? Over? Who does that?*

JUMPERS (Girls):

- Jumpers must be no shorter than 4" above the knee.

BELTS (Boys and Girls):

- Belts must be worn with slacks and shorts. (No skirts? ha-ha)
- Solid black, brown or Plaid Belt (WHAT?!)
- Standard buckle (WHAT?!)
- No ornamentation (WHAT?!)

SOCKS (Boys and Girls): (why do they even have a section for socks?)

- Socks or Approved leg wear are required at all times. (Duh, because they don’t let us wear any sandals or heels)
- Only solid-colored black, brown, red, white, or gray socks are approved. (No purple?)

HOSIERY (Girls):

*** Socks or approved leg wear are required at all times. Leggings are not permitted. (Crap, no leggings…)
- Solid-colored opaque tights (Red, black, white, or gray)
- Sheer hosiery (No Patterns Allowed) (Grades 6-12 only) *WHAT? Why no patterns?*

SHOES (Boys and Girls):

*** All shoes must be below the ankle with closed toes and heels. Shoes must be worn with socks or approved leg wear. Boots of any kind are prohibited with the exception of Timberland style boots, which must be ankle height or lower. Platform shoes are not allowed.
- Leather shoes with closed toes and heels (black or brown only)
- Saddle oxfords
- Bucs
- Low top athletic shoes in solid black, solid white or white trimmed with red, navy, blue, black or gray.
- No other styles or colors allowed. (Darn, no green.)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (Boys and Girls)

***School Insignia Required***

- Gym shorts (red, black or gray knit)
- Any School T-shirt (why ONLY a SCHOOL t-shirt? I want to show off my “I’m with the Band” shirt!)
- Sweatpants (red, black or gray)
- Sweatshirts (red, black or white - school insignia only)

OUTERWEAR (Boys and Girls): Grades 6-12

- School letter jackets
- School club or activity jackets (No Hoods) *darn, no hoods*
- Official school jackets available through approved Uniform Shops with school Logo
Outerwear must be properly sized and worn with proper uniform clothing underneath.

ACCESSORIES:

- Earrings on boys are prohibited. (Ha, all the emo kids are mad.)
- Girls may wear two earrings per ear. Earrings must be worn in the ear lobe only. (Darn it. That ruined my plan for high school.)
- Hats or caps are not permitted in the buildings during the school day. They may be worn from building to building and to and from the parking lot. Hats must be worn with the bill in front at all times. (What? Hats have to be worn a certain way, even though you can only wear them from the parking lot and from building to building?)

>>>>> ANY ITEM NOT LISTED IS UNACCEPTABLE. <<<<<

Additional Guidelines and Restrictions

1. Hair is to be maintained so that it is not extreme. No shaved heads or inappropriate hair colors are allowed. (No pink?)
Boys’ hairstyles must meet the following limitations:
-Not below the bottom of the ear lobe (including side burns) *No Elvis impersonators?*
-Above the eyes in front
-Not over the collar
-Clean shaven (ha, they let my sister’s friend slide for having a mustache)
2. All clothing must be free of holes or ragged appearance. (??????)
3. Any clothing which is too tight, too loose, or too revealing is unacceptable (I’m glad that too tight thing also applies to fat people…Just kidding!)

THE FOLLOWING ARE PROHIBITED:

- Earrings on boys (emo kids are retaliating)
- Hats or sun glasses inside the buildings (Crap, no Dr. Seuss hat!)
- Bandannas (gangsters hate us.)
- Facial and Body Piercing (what about the belly button? With this strict list you won’t even see it since belly buttons can’t show!)
- Chains on Billfolds (*grumble*)
- Tattoos (OMG! What not? What are they going to scan you or something?)
- Black fingernail polish (Ha, I wear it to school sometimes. They never notice when you keep your hands in your pocket!)
- Any clothing or accessory that the administration deems unsuitable

Penalties for Dress Code Violations

Teachers are to send students to the Counselors Office if clothes are in question. Any student not dressed within the policy code will have his or her parents contacted. Repeated violations of dress code policy may result in the following:
1. The parent may bring the student appropriate clothing (the student will remain unexcused out of class until the appropriate attire is brought to the school). *so un-cool*
2. The student may purchase acceptable clothing in the school store if it is available (parents will be billed for the purchase).
3. The student will serve in-school suspension. Continued violations of school dress code policy may result in suspension or expulsion. *WTF?!*

This sucks. I NEED REAL CLOTHES! In addition, I thought this school supported freedom to Americans and non conformity? I guess not…

I agree Abby <3, that isn't right! Emo kids are mad because they don't have their earrings where they want, and can't wear nail polish.

But I think our school just trys to make us look representable, because we get vistors...alot. Haha.

GEEZ!! It's like they are trying to make you be what they want you to be. That isn't right!

Anyways, try wearing cute nail polish, cute earrings, and shoes. And maybe a necklace and rings. And a scarf, if they allow that.

How old is too old to wear school uniform-like clothing?
F_45529_tNthURsXTHifxuCIjXyPrIkBcvrocY

I love pleated kilt-like skirts with t-shirts and vests and thigh high socks. Its usually not completely school uniform imitated, but I pick out stuff I like from it. How old is too old to wear this type of clothing? views?
Not really about looking innocent, its just a cool look.
Also I look quite young (I am young still, I just passed 20), but I'm quite petite so I might look a little bit younger than I am. I was thinking that possibly when i reach 25 I'll switch it out with pencil skirts and stuff, does that seem like a reasonable age?

Depends, a lot of people consider this fetish wear after you are out of the school age group, so consider the type of attention that you are getting.
I've seen 50 year olds dress this way.
If you mean at what age it stops being innocent? When you finish school, it's no longer innocent. I think past the age of 25 it's for the bedroom and fetish clubs. However, in the end if that's what you like to wear, who cares what other people think in the end.

GHS cheer team hosts fashion fundraiser

Strutting down the catwalk to the sounds of Lady Gaga and Beyonce, senior members of the Greenwich High School varsity cheerleading team showed off this winter's hottest fashions.

Jackie Zarre, 17, modeled a black and tan dress for the winter wonderland fashion show, the third annual event that also featured a silent auction to help raise money for the school's cheerleading program.

Zarre, who has been cheerleading since seventh grade, said even though she performs in front of large crowds all the time, she was nervous to show off her stuff on the runway.

"I've never done this," said Zarre before the show began. "I am so nervous."

Her mother Linda Zarre accompanied her down the runway too.

"I think this is great," Linda Zarre said. "It gets all of us together. I'm just hoping I don't trip."

Fifteen girls in all modeled clothes Sunday at the Western Greenwich Civic Center. The clothes were provided by The Side Door, a boutique in Byram. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for students.

Blood+Lust: Prologue

--x--

The wind picked up and she cursed herself for not listening to her step-father that morning and bringing along a coat. She wrapped her arms around her middle, straining to find some warmth in her frigid limbs. The bothersome school uniform did nothing to help, though she was slightly thankful for the knee-high socks. The heeled boots that stopped at her ankles were possibly the only thing keeping her toes from falling off.

The sky had darkened hours ago, sometime when she was confined in the school building with Kibum, helping him go over his well rehearsed scenes for the upcoming school play. She’d sat on the stage, staring up at him as he recited a monologue about finding love. It was so cliché, every word he said, but she took it to heart.

Finding love wasn’t easy, it didn’t always happen the first time, but it could.
