Short Skirt Uniform School

I'm 15. I'll be going to an all girls school. I have to wear a pleated skirt and Im not sure if I should wear shorts underneath just so I don't have to be so careful about how I sit, even though there will be no boys. If so should I wear spandex shorts or the short school gym shorts? Thank you.

Well, you should wear spandex shorts just in case you feel a bit uncomfortable. The shorts will give you protection just in case you are not too careful when you sit down.

Also, since your skirt is pleated, and if it's one of those kilt skirts, the shorts are good for those windy days just in case a gust of wind decides to mess with your skirt.

The problem with those gym shorts is if they are lose/a bit baggy, it can make your skirt poof out more, and if the shorts are longer than the skirt, I don't think it will look nice to have shorts that are sticking from under the bottom of your skirt.

Lastly, as a reference, last year on Halloween, I dressed as a schoolgirl and I wore one of those pleated kilt skirts. It was windy, but havin those spandex shorts under your skirt can stop people from seeing too much. Also, the girls I know/knew that had to wear a pleated skirt to school told me they wore spandex shorts under their skirts just in case of the wind or they forget to sit properly, etc.

I'm going to a school in the fall that requires uniforms, and part of it is a pleated skirt. One is polyester and one is wool, if that makes a difference. When worn normally it goes below my knees because I'm pretty short! I'd like to make it maybe an inch or two above my knees, not trashy but enough so that it looks okay. I tried rolling it but you could tell that I had it rolled because there was a huge layer of skirt sticking out all the way around my waist. I'm not sure how hemming goes over with a pleated skirt, so is there another way to roll it, or any other way to make it a little shorter? Thank you!

Well i have this issue too- here are some tips:
- You can take it to a tailor and they will hem it as much as you want for about 20 dollars. You cant see the hem at all
- I always get the size smaller than what i wear because i wear it around my waist. Not hips- so if you wear it there it should be at least 1-2 inches shorter. And you cant tell because of the thick/ bagy sweater. If you wear just a plain polo or tight fitted shirt i would not reccomend this.
- I roll it. How you do this is: Put the skirt on and pull it around your waist. Then take the waist band and fold it over once. Make sure to get the elastic part in the back, if you want it shorter do this again. Then right under the fold where the skirt goes out flatten it. Make sure to look in a mirror so that you know no pleats are sticking out. I usually have to tuck one pleat inbetween others one to eliminate it.
- Wear it on your waist.....
- Dont worry all the girls will have this problem. And NUMBER ONE SKIRT RULE!!!!!!!!!!! Always wears shorts underneath. Even if you are just going to sit in class- just do it believe me!

I am currently arguing with my husband over this. I think it is harder for a dad to see their teenager in a short skirt. I think as long as it is decent and nothing is showing then it's probably ok - where I'm from all th eskirts are slightly above knee but speaking as a mum an obviously ex schoolgirl I can guarantee that if you force her to wear a longer skirt then she will just turn up the waistband when she gets to school and it may end up even shorter than she originally wanted!
