Do you think I could wear my corset at school? We have quite a traditional school uniform (shirt, tie, skirt, blazer) so it would not be seen. It is an underbust corset so has quite a flat shape.
I don't understand why not. As long as you don't have PE or games, as it would be a pain to get off :) as long as its comfortable...! x

I went to public school up to high school, but then went to a catholic girl’s high school to complete my K-12 education. Although I wore a pretty traditional school uniform (skirt 2-3 inches above the knee, button-up blouse & cross tie, blazer, knee-high socks, etc.,) I always felt embarrassed wearing it in front of boys my age and especially older men in public. To be completely candid, I also felt awkward wearing it to school in front of the few male teachers I had because they seemed to always be staring at my legs.
Do other girls encounter these types of issues while wearing their uniforms in this present day and age?
Yes, guys like the "school girl" look. And it really depends on your school's uniform as to how much attention you'll get. You could take it up with the school administration (hey it might work...).
I do believe it IS another form of patriarchal control and degredation. They are objectifying women.
But to be honest, even if they changed it, guys will start liking that outfit too, even if you are covered head to toe in three layers of burlap. Guys, and really people in general like anything that represents youth, especially young girls.

Im 5'1 and every time I try on traditional school pants they don't fit right at all, we have to tuck in our shirts and Dockers/Dickeys/Arizona(JCPenny)/ French Toast come up all the way past my belly button. Anyone know where I can get pants good for petites? That look a little bit stylish? They have to be black.

I have just listened to a piece from the radio , starring Michael Gove, the education secretary, in an unnecessarily heated argument with a caller. I was very glad to see Mr Gove 'keep his cool', which, as I also find, often infuriates the people who want to have a good old row, as they mistakenly feel that they are being patronised. I voted Conservative in the general election. I don't particularly like the Conservative party, and I don't class myself as a 'tory', but they are a party, by and large, which reflects my values. Or used to, anyway. Its policies are often well-thought out, and based in traditional practice. Ideally, as in emulation of the model conservative, Edmund Burke (a political hero of mine), 'conservative' policies should not really fit into any category, but are based on what is the right thing to do at a particular moment. The Conservative party in the UK is the one party which comes close to this method of politics, though it has been way off the mark over the centuries....
