Your School Uniform

I go to Catholic school. Everytime we have something there (even on the weekends) like club meetings, tutoring, and other things, the school makes us come in our uniform. I'm involved in a lot of things (and my friends are not), so it's common for me to be in my school uniform 6, even all 7 days in a week. And I'll admit, I'm lazy. I don't like to change if I have to. I don't mind changing into my uniform, but as for changing out, I always feel lazy about it. But my friends love going out to places (the mall, movies, etc) on the weekends, and sometimes after school. But they always go home and change. As for me, I do not change, usually because I have something to do, or do not want to. So now I ask you, is it okay to wear your school uniform like I do? To the movies, mall, out to eat, friends' houses, the park, and other places, even on the weekends, simply because I do not want to change?

Absolutely, I used to do it all the time myself. I did it because they were comfortable

Just because you have to wear a uniform to school doesn't mean you can't assert your individuality.

For IT i have to do a powerpoint on whether school uniform should be banned or not, what are your opinions on this?
are you for uniform being banned or against uniform being banned?
please explain your reasoning.

A uniform can be very helpful. Dress code issues are virtually non-existent. Dressing for school is usually less expensive and certainly less stressful. Academic performance and discipline issues are improved. Uniforms tend to equalize the student body, effectively neutralizing some social problems, such as students of means bullying or ostracizing those who are not so well-off.

In order for these benefits to work, there must be a true uniform. I know of a school that claims they have a uniform, but they don't really. Instead of specific clothing purchased from a few select sources, they require students to wear khaki pants and specific colors and styles of shirts from any manufacturer or store. So some kids are wearing logo-plastered name-brand apparel, while others are getting K-Mart hand-me-downs. The kids can tell the difference, and many of the benefits of uniforms are not in play at all.

what would you like in a school uniform? and whats your uniform now?

My ideal school uniform would me to wear what ever pants not sluty and any shirt not sluty. my uniform now is a polo shirt and black, tan, blue or white pants.

My new high school uniform is a white blouse, school tie and black trousers or skirts. I've seen a few nice skirts and trousers, but I was wondering if anyone could give me help with customising my blouse, coz it's a bit boring!

Just so's you know, our skl isn't that strict. But they dont want us sticking on patches and stuff :-(
By the way, who ever said that it's what is on the inside that counts is completely, absolutely and totally right. But they've obviously never been to high skl! Some nice ideas coming in though. Thanks to all who've answered, I'll have a tough time choosing the best answer...

When I went to private school, we would wear different colored tank tops under our white blouses. Also a lot of colored chunky jewlery like necklaces and such. we did bright scarves too, but with your school tie, that may be a bit too much. Since you will be in high school, the ultimate customization is the rolling of the skirt to make it shorter. You take the top of the skirt near your waist and roll it to make it shorter. We used to do that and wear them over funky tights or fishnets. If you get sent to the principles office, just unroll it on your way there :D.

My parents sent me to a private school after we married. I now have to wear a white blouse with a green vest, plaid skirt and either blue, green or white tights or knee socks and simple black flats.

What does your uniform look like? Do you like it? What would you change?

i love my uniform i like it so much better then picking out clothes every morning and its not even ugly. its a navy blue plaid skirt, navy knee socks. and you have a choice of polo long sleeve polo white or light blue blouse with a sweater. and you can wear any black shoes you want.
