Bible School

Kids came back from summer vacation and started school.

First day back the teacher goes around the room asking the children what they did over the summer.

One girl replies "I went to bible school and I learned how Jonah was eatin by a whale."

Teacher "Well honey, you know, that is just a story."

Girl "Well, when I die and go to heaven, I'll be sure to ask him."

Teacher "That's fine but what if Jonah didn't go to heaven, what if he went to hell?"

Girl "Well, than I guess you'll have to ask him."

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Oh My God! That was so mirthful! LMAO!!!

This is not the same thing as a week-long vacation Bible school. It is a program that happens once a week for the whole year. It is only for kids up to a certain age. Once they become older than that they must leave. How would you determine the successfulness of such a program?

Generally, you might have some sort of assessment to see how well they learned the material, as you would with any other subject.

However, it is certainly not so clear-cut. Handing on the faith isn't *only* about passing on information; it's about facilitating conversion. That's a bit difficult to measure. I suppose your assessment could include some open-ended questions about how they feel different from when they did at the start of the year, whether or not they feel a connection with Jesus, etc.

If the kids are excited to be there, that's a good indication that something is going right, too. :)

I'm going on a mission trip to a very poor country in central america and we are going to host a vacation bible school for the kids there. I chose to lead the games station. I need any good suggestions for some good games to play on a low budget outdoors.

I went on a mission trip to Mexico a few years ago. We made balloon animals with the older kids. The kids also loved blowing bubbles, playing soccer, and coloring, playing Sardines, the opposite of Hide-N-Seek (depends on the area though). We also sang songs and made up dances to songs like this one:

So my mom wants me to go to open bible school. What do you think of it? Does it have lockers? I have so many questions! Could you like give me your email and we could talk or something? Thanks so so much! BTW I am pretty sure it's in newberg, I could be wrong.

Most schools have lockers so i think you should be fine.
