Can a Church of England school discriminate against a child because they attend a methodist church?

My daughter has little hope gaining admission to a local Church of England school because they class "Methodists" as being from a different faith and therefore highly unlikely to gain entry to a Christian school? Is this legal?

Yup because they still dont get why the reformation began to begin with.
In other words, they're sure they are not wrong.

Catholic school or church of England school?

Catholic schools seem to have better academic reports. Are they better all round, or are the church of england ones nicer schools to be in?

I have known students from both schools and the Catholic school students invaribly surpass the public school students(church of England)academically.Check the statistics and I bet the catholic students much more often attend college and are far better behavied. They seem to have a stronger moral sense drilled into them. Are Catholic schools in England more expensive to attend in England? In America it costs about three times as much.If your child is having behavorial, and I am not saying she is,but if it were the case I would opt for the Catholic school without hesitation.I bet you will find less crowded classrooms meaming much more individualized instruction. No doubt there will initually be adjustment problems but onch that hurdle is gotten over you will be far more satisfied. Now I didn't attend a Catholic school and for me it probably would not have made much dirrerence. But I wish I had or at least had the opportunity.I say that after years of teaching experience.Always keep formost in ming that the inportant thing is your child and your personal likes and dislikes are back seat. Not that you don't but I always remind everyone that.Old habit. Before making any commitments why not observe each for awhile before making a decision.Your Pal larry m

Can church of England pupils go to a catholic school?

really i need to know if my son can go to a catholic school when at the moment he is going to a church of england school

In the States, there are many non-Catholics who attend Catholic schools. You should probably contact the school and find out what their policy is.

Can my child attend a Church of England primary school?

I have been going to church for about a year now, although I have not been baptised and did not get married in church. I have just found out that I am expecting and would like to know if I can send my child to a Church of England primary and secondary school.
Thank you for your responses.

Yes, you don't need to be baptised although it may be a good idea to get your child baptised if you want it to attend a church school. However by law all church schools have to accept a certain number of children from other denominations as well, so potentially every child has the right to attend a Church of England primary school.

  • Baptism and the Church of England | King's Evangelical Divinity ...

(18Th January 2011) conveying the news that clergy in the Church of England are calling for simplified language for services of baptism ‘to help non-church goers.’

Now, I wouldn’t particularly have a problem with using simple language for the many non-Christians attending such services who make up the congregation if it were not for one thing; the service is not for them! It is for the baptism of the candidate and the promises being made by the candidate and his/her sponsors in the context of worship directed towards almighty God. How can non-Christians be worshipping almighty God? to take place, they should only be countenanced where the parents and God-parents are true Christians who understand what they’re promising.

Unfortunately, within the CofE (and other denominations for that matter) thousands of baptisms take place each year where not only are most of the congregation not Christians - the parents and God-parents are not Christians either. I’ve attended hundreds of such services, and in my view they are a mockery. And our God will not be mocked! (Gal 6:7)
