Which is better for 8 year old, Computer Cool School or ClickStart?

My son is 8 and has special needs. We are looking for a program that will help him gain some computer skills and that is fun, but is not too easy. He is smart probably has comprehensive skills between 5-7 year old. Please help if you have experience with these systems! Only serious responses!

I don't own either one but thought about getting one or the other for my son.
I've read a lot about them both & I think the Computer Cool School is the way to go, I have read COUNTLESS reviews that kids choose this 10 to 1 over the Leapfrog Clickstart.
We are waiting just a little longer, when my son is around 2 1/2-3 before we buy the Cool School. I am very excited I know he will love it, as he loves to play on our computer - He is 2.

The ONLY negative thing I see about is that you have to more than likely buy the extra pc games online as I see no wher ein stores that sell the games/cd's for the cool school. Of course Maybe I hadn't looked everywhere, but I did see that the Clickstart had games/cd's right in the store.

Good Luck with your decision sorry I couldn't help more.
If you put in google Computer Cool School or Clickstart or some variances like this you will get real moms talking about how their kids like the cool school over the clickstart or vice versa and why.

I bought a Fisher Price computer cool school, when plugged in to computer it says SOUND Card not detected. Why?

I got Windows XP, do I need to purchase a separate sound card?

You may need a sound card. Do you not have one? Look in the device manager to see if you have a sound hardware conflict. What are the system requirements for a fisher price cool school? (I'm guessing its for the little one's).

For a 5 and 4 year old, Leapfrog Clickstart or Fisher Price Fun 2 Learn Cool School Computer?

Seems like reviews are mixed for them, does anyone have/or has seen both and compared them firsthand? Thanks!
Thanks, but my kids already know how to use the reg. computer and they both have sev. games that screw it up all the time! Hence the reason for wanting to purchase their OWN thing to dink around on. They also LOVE puzzles, blocks, and paint or draw every day. Thanks Everyone.

  • Does anyone have the Fisher Price Computer Cool School ...

I know this came out several years ago and I see it around every now and then but never really considered it. DD's 3rd birthday is coming up and she loves playing games off and on on the computer but at this point it's basically her sitting in my lap and me pushing all the buttons and whatnot which is fine but she's getting to the point that she insists that she does it by herself and then she just gets frustrated. I came across this and it seems to get somewhat decent reviews but I was wondering if anyone on here has one and if they liked and if their kids liked it and felt it was a good learning resource. It has features which remind me of the old Fisher Price Easy Links in that they can't open up anything crazy on the computer when they are clicking around on the keyboard so it makes it easier for them to navigate. Anyway, any info would be GREAT!!
