Why is it that all of the people who went to a traditional school try to bash schools like DeVry University and University of Phoenix? Are they ignorant? Did they attend the schools? Do they speak from assumption and not fact?
Yes, it is out of ignorance that most people bash schools like DeVry and University of Phoenix. Most of these people that are bashing non-traditional schools went to a traditional school and feel cheated that they could not take courses online at their own pace. It is understandable that they would need to feel a sense of entitlement.
These people also have never attended or graduated from a non-traditional school and therefore have no direct experience or knowledge and therefore are speaking from assumptions of what they think they know or have heard - which does not translate into factual evidence.
These online schools offer the same education as a brick and mortar school. They allow their students to go online or on campus to take classes. They have the same accreditation as a traditional school. There is no difference in the textbooks used or the courses offered.
What we have is a battle between traditional schools that feel threatened by online schools (as they should be since year after year online schooling has grown by over 20%). Anyone that posts online negative comments about a non-traditional school could also be from one of these traditional schools that feels threatened.
Soon we will see that more people will be taking classes online than in a traditional college setting. Most traditional schools now offer online classes in an effort to compete with the new way of learning.
Sitting in a lecture for three hours does not constitute for a "better" education and in no way entitles a traditional school to claim that their education is better than DeVry University or University of PPhoenix
The costs are the same as a good traditional school, the schools are accredited and the learning is just as good as a traditional school. Unless you have attended both types of schools please don't leave false comments about what you assume.
The fact that these schools are Incorporated makes no difference in what type of learning they provide. Public schools are funded by your tax payer dollars, are they any better? A school that is Incorporated isn't propped up by anyone and therefore strives harder to stay in business and provide a good education so that more students will attend. How do you think they can survive year after year if they were so poor at educating millions of people every year? Both of these schools mentioned have been around for over 20 years - poor education? Then why haven't they gone out of business? Good schools mocked by fools.

I am looking to transfer to another school because Devry is too expensive. I have earned 30 credits and am looking for a school to transfer to. Devry is nationally acredited.
That will depend on many factors, including the courses you took there, your grades, and the degree program you wish to complete. You might want to do some "shopping" to see which college would accept the greatest number of credits, since that might be a big factor in choosing your next college.
You can go to a site like http://www.online-degrees-and-colleges.c om to find online colleges offering the program(s) of interest to you. Then, if you fill out the online questionnaires of the colleges that interest you, you will be contacted by admissions representatives who can give you specific information about which of your credits will transfer.
And, if finances are an issue, as you suggested, they can discuss that as well.
Good luck.

I'm going into the 10th grade and i want to take a extra class outside of school and Devry University offers the classes i want to take. Will they allow a 10th grader to apply to their school?
And does anyone know how much it is for one class?
I believe that you have to be at least 17 years old to apply for the Devry University. Each applicant must have earned one of the following educational credentials from a DeVry-recognized organization: a high school diploma or equivalent, a General Educational Development (GED) certificate or a post-secondary degree. The diploma or other acceptable documentation of the applicant's educational achievement must be provided for the student's file by the end of registration unless the school grants an extension. An official transcript (or equivalent documentation) with the high school or college grade point average (GPA) and graduation date must be provided for the student's file by the end of the first semester.
The tutition at Devry for one 3 credits course is about 1600 dollars. It is a private school, therefore, their tutition is a bit higher than most traditional schools. I used to go to the Devry University when I was in the undergrad program and the professor is very professional and helpful. I think you will enjoy it.

Im thinking about goin to this school I haven't really made a final answer yet but yea is Devry a good school to attend? Also is Computer Science a good course to take up?
I just want opinions on the school if anyone knows or has ever attended Devry.
It is not the worst school in the nation. It *IS* regionally accredited. I often visited DeVry schools on the West Coast before the dot.com collapse and recruited some very sharp BSEET grads from DeVry.
Here's the thing about DeVry: Engineering Technology programs at DeVry have TAC/ABET accreditation, and they are as good as Engineering Technology programs in any regular university. DeVry's BSCET degrees are taught in three full calendar years, so graduates get out and start earning money a year early. That's the good news. Stick with one of the several DeVry Engineering Technology programs, and you will get a good Computer Engineering Technology education, with good career prospects. Maybe the BSTM in Technology Management is also good.
The bad news is that many other DeVry programs and degrees are sub-standard or worthless. DeVry made a major mistake in changing its name from DeVry Institute to DeVry University. DeVry Institute had credibility for what it was. DeVry University is the subject of snickers. Some DeVry "professors" even bought their degrees for $300...
Do you think there is a chance from getting into law school after graduating Devry Univerity ?
Devry does not really hold an upstading name. I choose Devry because of the hours. I work full time and have two children.
To my knowledge, Devry is not regionally accredited. All ABA approved law schools will require that you got your bachelors from a regionally accredited school, at a minimum. So for most law schools, you won't qualify.
In addition, in order to get into a good law school, you need to have gone to an academically respected university for your bachelors. This does NOT mean you need to have gone to Harvard, but Devry certainly wouldn't do it.
There may be some non-ABA accredited law schools that might admit you, but your ability to actually work in law after graduating from such a school is little to none in most states. Some states may allow you to take the bar, though, even if your school wasn't ABA accredited. If your state is one of those, you could go into business as a sole practitioner in law, so that would be a possible path for you. But it's an expensive path, and one with not a huge chance of success.
If practicing law is your life's dream, I'd want you to consider transferring from Devry (probably losing credits in the process, due to their lack of regional accreditation) to a reputable university in your region that offers degrees via continuing ed/night school. A lot of them do, and a lot of them are really great schools. I my region, examples include Fordham, Columbia and NYU - some powerful names - as well as less known, but reputable schools like Mercy College. You'd get your degree from the reputable university, and then apply to law school.
But only you can decide which path is the most realistic one for you, in your life, right now. I wish you the best of luck.
