Pl suggest good intl school with British curriculum in Dubai for class 5 & 8 students moving from India soon.?

We plan to move in to Dubai shortly. My children are currently following CBSE sylabus. I want to admit them in to an international school with British curriculum. I look for a school where they can easily settle in to, with a good number of Indian students around, compatible culture and with reasonable fees. They are in 5th and 8th standard respectively.

I have a PR! Do I need my A & AS Levels after O Levels in British school to apply for med school in Australia?

I recently Finished my O levels in a British School in Dubai.
I want to study in an Australian University.
An MBBS course
My Question is:
A & AS Levels are needed or are the O levels enough equivalency for the Australian Curruculum?

You won't get into any Australian university for any degree with only O levels - A levels is the minimum requirement as that is the equivalent of the Australian year 12.

For an undergraduate MBBS, you will need very high A levels (AAA) and good results in UMAT as entry is highly competitive, even for full fee paying international students. It will be even more competitive for a Commonwealth supported student which is what you will be as a PR - only the top 1% of Commonwealth supported students have a chance of getting into undergraduate Medicine. At many Australian universities however, Medicine is a graduate degree so you first will need a 3 year undergraduate degree with a high GPA and then good results in GAMSAT.

nanny required in Dubai, springs area, also car lift required from school?

hi, i do not have a residence visa yet, therefore i cannot sponsor a nanny, how do i go about getting someone look after my 11 year old, whilst i am at work? also i am looking for a female driver to do the school runs as i do not have access to a car and the school dosn't run a bus service as yet (Dubai British School).

Best thing for you to do in your current situation is to get together with other moms/parents of the same school. Ask the principal if one of the other kids live your direction and then try car pooling. It also might be possible that your daughter will stay over another kid's house until you can come and pick her up. You might get lucky and find parents who would be thankfull if you offer them a "revenge" and take their kid for a weekend while they would like to go out.

Other possibility: Look for a part time maid who is on husband's or father's visa and is willing to watch your kid for certain hours. Look for them in Gulf News under Classifieds. They might charge you around DHS 20 the hour.

As for hiring a driver, you might not get lucky to get a female. There are only a handfull female cab drivers in Dubai driving the pink taxis. Call the cab company and order a mature driver for a 11 years old girl. Do not worry to much about having a male driver!

When this school does not have a bus service, other parents should face the same problems and help out each other.

Btw. If your residence visa is in progress right now it should be done by end of summer break and you will be able to hire a live in. Just take care of necessary steps in advance.

Take care and good luck

edit emily_jane: you are not familiar with the society of the UAE. Nobody will pay a salary for a british nanny if you can get a live in Philippina for DHS 1.468,00 (minimum) or an Indonesian for around Dhs 800. No Brit would work for that!

To the other answerer: you must be out of your mind to leave a 11 years old by herself after school. I never would do that! I appreciate the questioning Lady for taking proper care of her girl.
