Im looking into wedding/event planning courses and i've narrowed it down to two. I've heard great things about both but I wanted to get some opinions from other people to see what choice would be greater to my advantage.
my advice is dont listen to the other guy who answered ... ive been also looking into this career and im finding a lot of people started out by helping others and networking and they didnt even take a course , but thats just another option .... i dont really know much about programs offered at those particular schools but i would be inclined to look at what is required for the program i know if i went to one college i would spend three years learning how to become an event manager, but if i went to another one in the same city it would only take me a year to get a certification, personally im choosing the one that requires 3 years of studying because i believe that i will get a better education, but thats just me, if you need to figure out now apply to both and if you get accepted to both great ! you can then choose the one that gives the best vibe to you, just remember to keep your options open. also if you can get your hands on student testimonials/ pictures i find that helpful because i now that how a school looks matters a lot to me, after all you are going to be living there for a period of time, and i dont think anyone would want to stay somewhere that made them feel depressed .... sorry i know i didnt really answer your question but i felt like i had to put something down there for you because what that other person wrote was total trash, hope this helps anyway :) good luck with your career. :)
just some additional information that i just found out try googling is sheffield school a good school and then in penn foster a good school i tried that with my two options and i found some really great information, i also found that it was better to stay away from forums because you can get a lot of biased opinions on there and other people who dont know what they are talking about...hope this helps you out a little bit more :)

Hi, ok so recently I have decided that I want to become a event/wedding planner. I am only 16 so I still have time to decide. But I was wondering if there are any colleges that you can major in event planning? And do they make a lot of money? Thanks!
You can pretty easily find certification programs but you'll be hard pressed to find an accredited bachelors degree program. I know I haven't.
You might consider related courses of study. Wedding planning is about business, leadership, project management, fashion design, interior design, and even some performance arts.
Wedding planning is primarily is a trade skill. No matter how much education you get, you'll still have to be shown the trade.
Just to be perfectly clear, a college education helps ANY career. That being said, you should look at organizations like the Association of Bridal Consultants and the Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants.
You might also consider getting some experience planning some small, simple weddings while you are in college. Being able to say that you've been in the business for four years is pretty good.

I'm interested in enrolling in QC's school and would love to actually hear from people who are either enrolled now, thinking about enrolling, and/ or already received their diploma from the school.
I'm just looking for some kind of actual feedback from real people that i would not find from a website or calling the school.
Thanks!
Yesterday I contacted My-Event-Shrink for my kids
birthday party, they helped me so much. You may

I wanted to make sure that they are not a scam.
Check with the International Special Event Society (ISES online).
The website listed below, they have a bunch of Event Professionals
that work this site and you can online talk for free.
I have searched everywhere online for a CT (or even MA) school that offer event planning. I'm looking to be an event/wedding planner. The only schools that seem to offer it are online. I am not looking for an online school. If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated!!

Interning For a Successful Event Planning Career
Thinking about becoming an event or wedding planner? If you're in school it’s a perfect time to start training on becoming an event planner by interning with an event or wedding planning company. Interning can be a great learning experience for you and you'll get a good idea of what it really takes to become a successful event planner.
Attending school is important and taking business courses will certainly help you become a better businessperson but actually training with an event planner teaches you the actual day to day job skills you'll need to become a success as a wedding or event planner.
School of course gives you bookwork training and is a good foundation for becoming a great business person but there's nothing like hands on training in a real event planning company to give you real practical day to day skills for your success.
If you're considering interning let us give you some helpful hints on how to make the experience of interning a positive and productive one. Successfully managing your own career is crucial for your financial and private well being. However it is rarely pursued on a strategic or informed basis. Career designing, notably in the technology field, is a lot of and a lot of the responsibility of the individual. Notably, since most people nowadays finish up operating for many employers. The basis for more successful career management includes developing career plans that are applicable at different stages in your career. Interning is all about gaining work experience and knowledge because it sure ain't about the money….most interns work for little or no money.
