I'm wondering if anyone knew about high schools in the Torresdale section that people would have attended in the 1960's - private, Catholic and public. The ones I've come across so far are:
Nazareth Academy
Father Judge
Lincoln High School
Archbishop Ryan
Swenson Arts & Technology High School
Northeast
Holy Cross
St. Hubert's
Have I missed any? Are there any high schools that were open in the 1960's but have now closed? Thanks.

CINCINNATI - A man ordered by a judge to make sure his daughter studied has found himself in jail because she failed to earn a high school equivalency diploma.
Brian Gegner, who lives near Cincinnati, was sentenced last week to 180 days in jail for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor.
He was ordered months ago to make sure his 18-year-old daughter Brittany Gegner, who has a history of truancy, received the diploma known as GED — something that hasn't happened yet.

Brittany Gegner, who said Monday that she plans to take a required GED test this month, said her father shouldn't be blamed for her failure because she has been living with her mother.
"It was my wrongdoing, not his," said Brittany Gegner, whose fiance and 18-month-old daughter also live at her mother's home. "He shouldn't have to go to jail for something I did."
Her mother agrees.
"Brittany is almost 19 years old now and I think it's unfair to put her father in jail," said Shana Roach. "She's an adult now, and it's not right to rip an innocent man from his home."
Juvenile Court administrator Rob Clevenger Jr. said Monday that the court still has jurisdiction in the case because Brittany Gegner was a juvenile when the truancy problems began and when the charge against Brian Gegner was filed in 2007.
A hearing on a motion filed by Brian Gegner's attorney to reconsider the sentence is scheduled for Friday. Messages seeking comment were not returned Monday at the offices of defense attorney Tamara Sack and the prosecutor.
Brian Gegner's wife, Stephanie Gegner, said she and her husband are afraid he will lose his job if he remains in jail. She said they tried to keep his daughter in school.
"You'd take her to school and she'd go out the other door," Stephanie Gegner said.

I agree with most of what you said besides the part where you said we vote for the same thing. Just consider yourself a republican and stop complaining about it. Presidents get their votes and try their best to help us. Republicans don't like school or government help, nor do they like this brainwashing. Choosing a side will be the only way you can make a difference.
It is a ridiculous nanny state attack on a non-criminal. People are allowed to quit school after they turn 16. I think the courts should focus on criminals. They should have more important things to do than this. It is not illegal to quit high school.
This person is my second cousin and my father asked her if she would speak at the graduation. She is a judge. The school is really a small home school group with just six kids graduating. I'm am completely stumped on this.
I have 3 kids who attend a one room school. there are a total of 7 kids in the whole school. a senior just graduated there. We just had one senior. The speaker was the second graduate (also the only senior in his class) back from 1982. He is an ems driver and he talked about life taking you on different courses in life. you plan one way and something may change your direction but no matter which route you take go with all you have! We treated this speaker with the same attitude if we would of had 100 graduates. With a smaller class you have have more personal moments that can make a graduation special. they do not get lost in a bunch of names. The judge would be a great person to have to speak at the graduation. Not only will she be making just a speech but she can direct it to the class to where it will impact each one with what she says!
I have just signed a pre-trial diversion contract in texas over my first dwi (dwi happened over a year ago). I found out after signing the contract that the judge who has been handling my case all along knew my father from high school.
I have nothing on my record and this first offense is the only thing i have ever been to court over. Is this "conflict of interest" worth looking into? would i be able to get this undone now that i am pretty much past the court phase and have signed the pre-trial diversion contract?
I have paid $500 to start the probation, and will pay $90 a month for the next year for the probation and lawyers fee. i'd ask my lawyer but he is court appointed and deals with this judge many times a month and i don't feel like he'd give helpful advice... he actually went to sleep during one of my court apperances.
(sorry for the grammer and sewntence structure. this is all being sent from my phone)
In Louisiana, at least in Civil law, the Judge would not have to recuse himself ( would not a conflict of interest with a Judge) just because he knew your father, whether they were best friends or hated your father. He would have to be related to you by blood, up to, believe up to the second degree)- such as your uncle or cousin, or related by affinity, your father in law, the spouse of your attorne, or feels like he could not give you a fair trial for whatever reason.
What state are you in?
It started when I liked this girl from 6th in new school jr.high and then high school. I wanted to be loyal to her. So if other girls asked me out that i did not like i whould say no.
She liked some guy over overweight. got depressed a year and kids started to think I was gay. old friends ditched me because they though I was gay. 9th grade worst year for me. 10th grade some started to think i was not gay because I whould not look at guys not touch or anything.
one kid said hi (10th grade knew him from 5th) to me that I hated Ignored him (He thought I was gay). He has lots of friends but they seem to not hang around with him hes kinda homophobic or maybe gay himself but not to judge. Im white. Some reason I had lots of friends 1 black group of about 20 though I was a pimp most girls though I was gay.
But did not hang out with them. I switched schools because of that and it was hard to pass the dam classes about 6. 2 hours of math. 5 hours of health . biology 1.5 hours. lots of homework and test. But at the end of last days befor I switched schools in the middle of the year. one kid spreaded rumors I got a girl pregnant about week or more later in 2009 I was in a different school. Allso what came out of this I like asian girls now most one I meet seem nice and they talk cute. I hate blond girls they seem rude (Thinking i was gay) to me the stuck up ones who get A's and chase the guys that look like they be a bad father and make them a single mom. some blonds thought I was gay except the dumb ones or short ones, or the ones that accepted gay people. This was last year.
Now comes to this what do you think? have you guys ever been in this or girls I had a friend where every one thought she was a lesbian. What should I do if I run into some one that thought I was gay. If its boy and If its a girl. It only happend twice in the summer they did not see me though. In a car driving by or parked by.
I HATE GAYS!!! >_<

338 Teams from Across PA to Participate in Mock Trial Competition ...
HARRISBURG – Beginning Jan. 24, 338 teams from 289 high schools across Pennsylvania will be competing in district and regional levels of the Statewide Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.
Pennsylvania’s mock trial program, now in its 27th year, is one of the largest in the nation.
“For students across Pennsylvania, mock trial competition is more than an academic exercise,” said Lisa M.B. Woodburn of Harrisburg, chair of the association’s Young Lawyers Division. “Participating students gain a working knowledge of our justice system plus successful dispute resolution techniques, valuable presentation skills and critical-thinking skills that can be put to good use at college and in many types of future careers.”
Woodburn extended a thank-you to teachers and lawyers participating in the program.
“Hundreds of teachers and lawyers are voluntarily stepping forward to prepare teams for competition and to judge competitions at the regional and state levels. This event would not be possible without their support and expertise,” Woodburn said.
