on one part of their website it says;
Benefits for students and families:
* Opportunity to earn high school diploma
and on another it says
"We are a curriculum provider, not a diploma granting institution."
can anyone tell me what this means? i want to withdraw from my high school and do florida virtual, but i want my diploma..
You will get a GED from the board of education that says "Florida High School Diploma" I'm a flvs student.
You shouldn't have any problems getting into colleges and you are also eligible for the bright futures program.

I am currently taking a semester on florida virtual school( online school) and i was wonder do you think my high school would let me go back to the school and take the second semester and come home and finish my first semester? because i havent finished it yet and i hope they will because then i gotta wait to go back to school. and ideas?
If you mean attend two schools at once, then no. Not at all. The two schools would be competing for funding from Florida which would only give it to one, not both.
To take classes while enrolled in a full time public school, you will need to pay for them. To get free online classes, you'll need to be full time enrolled like you are at FVS. More info here:

I'm doing FVS in Jan. and just wanted to know the ways I can get a high school diploma through FVS. I do plan on going to college ( even though it will be out of the country) and a GED is just not going to cut it .
Get in contact with the guidance counselor for your district. They should be located at the Board of Education in your county. I do believe that you will receive a diploma not a GED in virtual school. FVS does follow the same curriculum as the public schools, without the thrills.

My dad won't let me go to flvs because he says it doesn't offer high school diplomas. Is there any way to get a high school diploma from flvs? (Florida Virtual School)
I really wanna go there. But of course I'll need a high school diploma. If you could, could you give me a link that says something about this on their site maybe? Thanks.
There are several ways that you can earn your diploma while taking FLVS course. First, you could register as a homeschool student in your school district and join a homeschool group that grants diplomas. Your diploma will come from that group or school, but you can still take all of your credits via FLVS. A second option is to find an umbrella school in your area. That is a school where they keep your transcripts and records while you take your courses from home with FLVS. There are several ways to find schools like that. We can help you if you give us a call at 407-513-3587. A third a final way to earn your diploma through Florida Virtual School is to join the FLVS Full-Time program. This is a new program that we are offering and, if you qualify, you would take FLVS courses on a full 180 set program (like a traditional school, just from home). Upon the completion of FLVSFT you would be granted a diploma. To learn more visit, www.flvsft.com.
Again, if you have questions, do not hesitate to call us. We are here to help you through this decision making time.
Thanks,
FLVS
Okay , so I have gone to go live with my mom , and i have had to attend the school tat's in her district . I didnt want to go to that school , but i decided to give it a chance . So , I've been going there for over a month now . But , i really don't like this school . And I can't go anywhere else . So , could I take online classes instead of normal school period ? please help . 10pts . :)
No, you can theoretically finish all of your credits online. (Even the PE credits...) I really suggest trying to keep going to your actual school. It sucks switching and all but things work out, it kinda seems like you had kinda already decided you didn't want to be there. If it's a specific problem with that specific school, look for another one in the district. I don't know what district you're in but in mine we have the choice to apply for special assignment to any other school in the district. (Some schools are just amazing.)
But if you don't want to do that either, yes, you could take all of your credits online. Be warned though, I've seen a couple people do that and they've always hated it. Good luck though!
*Also, a lot of the Florida Virtual Schools "teachers" are kinda crazy...

Education Week: Fla. Virtual School Ties Course Completions to Funding
In most Florida schools, state educational funding follows a student regardless of whether he or she passes or fails a course. But at the 97,000-student Florida Virtual School, the money comes through only when the student completes a course with a passing grade.
Under the funding model, which differs from the appropriations-based system that pays for many other state virtual schools, the Florida Virtual School grew from just under 13,000 half-credit completions in 2002-03 to just under 214,000 in 2009-10. But the performance-based funding model means FLVS also has to walk a delicate line between ensuring that its students complete courses at a rate high enough to sustain adequate funding, and maintaining proper standards for its courses.
The result is a school in which every class interaction is documented, and where every teacher and administrator works on a performance contract that is renewed each year. Teachers are compensated on a base-plus-incentive-pay formula that includes how many students complete their courses and how...
