I dropped out of high school in 9th grade (had a baby). Since then I have gotten my GED and started college. One of the requirements to get my degree is to complete one unit that is equivalent to high school algebra.
What course do I need to take?
since course requirements vary from school to school to school, I cannot tell you what course to take. However, I would advise that you speak with your counselor. Set up an appointment with him or her to develop a course curriculum. This will take about an hour to complete. Your counselor will help you figure out which courses you need to take, and in what order. He/she will also help you find out what the course numbers are for all of your required courses, and may even help get you registered.
Hi! I am a High school student and I'm taking Intermediate Algebra at ARC. I was wondering if HS Alg 2 is the same as Intermediate Alg in college. Do both of them contain the same material? And will it help when I take Trigonometry in High School?
I'm pretty sure at my school it goes Algebra1, Geometry, ICA (intermediate collage algebra), and the Algebra2

Not many days pass that I don’t think a time or two about James R. Harkey. Mr. Harkey was my high school mathematics teacher. He taught me algebra, geometry, analytic geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. What I learned from Mr. Harkey influences—to this day—how I write, how I teach, how I plead a case, how I troubleshoot, .... These are the skills I’ve used to earn everything I own. Prior to Mr. Harkey’s algebra class, algebra for me just was a morass of tricks to memorize: “Take the constant to the other side...”; “Cancel the common factors...”; “Flip the fraction and multiply...” I could practice for a while and then solve problems just like the ones I had been practicing, by applying memorized transformations to superficial patterns that I recognized, but I didn’t understand what I had been taught to do. Without continual practice, the rules I had memorized would evaporate, and then once more...
