If high school students are tested for drugs will it help to decrease the number of future and present high school drug users.
It will only lessen the number of athletes who do drugs, not the general population of the school or neighborhood.

I Would like different opinion on High school mandatory drug testing.
A con is it could lead to invasion of privacy issues. A pro is if you had a large drug problem at school it'd be an easy way to weed out the chemically dependant students or be able to target them for treatment. I personally think this is a terrible idea that is likely to just lead to more controversey and probably get the school into trouble. What about the kid who just got done eating 12 poppy seed muffins for breakfast? Even though he gets straight A's and is student president and captain of the football and wrestling teams, now he is kicked out of school and has a ruined reputation, all because the poppy seed muffins made him fail a drug test...that's just one scenario I can think of. It's just not a good idea.
i have to wright a speech about my opinion on why random high school drug testing
-keep kids drug free
-keep drugs off campus
-lower drop out rate
I just found out that my stepson's school is now drug testing all athletes. The Missouri State High School Activities Association has authorized random drug testing. The say the 14.1% of 7th grades admit to consuming alcohol and by their Senior year that number rises to 58.5%.
It doesn't seem that drugs are their concern, but their target is alcohol usage. What do you think?
Should random drug testing be allowed in high school athletes?
I think it should.
I'd love to see it in my school.
I know so many people that would get busted.
Okay, my high school is going under inspection or something for drug use, I just want to know, can I refuse a drug test?
What rights do I have and what happens if I have to do it and I test positive? Do I get kicked out of school?
Thanks. and to clear it up, I smoke marijuana, big deal.
Shut up, I won't listen to idiots that say "dont do drugs"
I just hate when people with no education on the subject try and prove other people wrong, marijuana is not as harmful as people think.
I have never heard of a school actually conducting drug testing in Canada. There are a number of Charter issues with doing so. Your school will likely utilize the local police for their "inspection" and may ask to search your person or locker if they feel they have the grounds to do so.

Drug Testing for Giving Educational Scholarships Advantages and Disadvantages
The price for a decent education increases every year, especially in good universities and colleges. This is why it makes perfect sense for diligent students to work hard to attain scholarships and grants to be able to pursue their education without having to worry about tuition. In the past, students only had to accomplish a battery of tests and maintain high grades to get these scholarships and grants. Now, though, many schools have started to implement drug testing as well, as additional criteria before these students are awarded certain scholarships.
This of course, can affect the outcome of a student’s application for scholarships and grants—whether he is a first-time offender or a repetitive user. Naturally, drug testing as part of the criteria for granting scholarships has sparked serious debate among parents, faculty and students. Let’s weigh the advantages and disadvantages of this serious matter.
