I need help in my project. I have to write a research paper on how math is involved in a career and what high school and college MATH courses you have to take in order to meet your career. I need help on what courses you have to take and how is math involved?
I know for health science you need to take Statistics or Bio-Statistics, Calculus or Bio-Calculus,Physics which is science but more math intense. These are the major maths you have to take for those majors. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

I am 20 and am currently taking trigonometry at a local community college. How would I become a teacher at a high school in Southern california? Need step by step and how long it'll take. Once I finish my education, is it pretty much guarantee that I'll get a job as a high school math teacher?
nothing is guaranteed.
There still is large need for math teaches in most areas- but they are clustered in larger cities - in your case Los Angeles Unified. Once you have your credential - you still need to be hired. My school had two math openings this year and perhaps ten applicants - so there still is the issue of interviewing.
Bachelors degree, then credentialing program - perhaps 1-2 years after your bachelors. Look into Cal State Los Angeles - They have a blended math teacher preparation program.
edit: I am and have always been in East Los Angeles. The need for *math* teachers is extreme. In my school alone we have multiple math and science teachers who have been recruited from the phillipines to fill the need. The inner city has a need for teachers *in this economy*. I agree with neniaf when you are speaking about the suburbs - but Urban Los Angeles is not that. The teachers that are out of work do not come to us.
I am interested in becoming a math teacher but I would like to know how much I'd get paid and how long it will take me to get there. Also what courses I need before I complete high school.
My husband and I have both taught math, and even though we taught in different states we both started at about 29,000. If you have a Master's degree, you will probably start 7,000 or 8,000 higher. A PhD will start you even higher, but at that point you might want to look at working at the college level. After starting, the pay will go up by a few hundred each year, but you should not go into teaching for the money (i.e., you'll never get rich). However, teaching can be a challenging and rewarding job - you'll gain life experiences that can't be expressed through a simple paycheck.
To get a good start on your training, you should take through AP Calculus (A or B) in high-school and also AP Statistics if your school offers it.
A math education major is quite demanding. You will take almost as many math classes as a math major, as well as many education courses. You want to have as much math under your belt after high-school as possible, so you don't end up spending extra years in college.

I'm a high school math teacher looking to tutor on the side. How much is fair to charge per hour?
It depends on what the going rate is in your area for someone with a comparable resume. Try looking at craigslist.org (Services Offered > Lessons) and call tutoring facilities, like Huntington Learning to get an idea. In L.A., I've seen from $15 - $100 hour. The best aren't necessarily the most expensive. I know a tutor with a great resume and personality who charges $15 an hour, because he knows he will be booked solid, while someone charging just a bit more may not get too many clients.
Good luck!
I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry, not mathematics. However, I am interested in teaching math at the secondary level in California. What steps must I go through in order to become qualified to teach high school math in CA?
It would seem that you don't need a bachelor's in math, just to pass a proficiency test. You will need a teaching credential. Granted, this is only for the 5-year preliminary certification, but surely you can get the rest of it together in that time. http://www.teachcalifornia.org/require/b c01.html

QlikCommunity | BI Lessons from the High School Math Classroom ...
"Start with the visual. That forms the question." It was these eight words in a tweet by John Maeda, President of Rhode Island School of Design, that prompted me to watch a 12-minute TedX video . "Math Curriculum Makeover" features high school math teacher Dan Meyer. As an educator, Meyer is struggling to overcome a number of student issues such as lack of initiative, lack of perseverance, lack of (knowledge) retention, aversion to word problems, and eagerness for formulas. In this video, filmed on March 6, 2010, Meyer described how he is turning high school math education on its head as he teaches kids math reasoning and patient problem-solving skills.
What does high school math education have to do with BI software? A whole lot, actually. Consider this quote from Meyer’s presentation, “What problem have you solved—ever—that was worth solving, where you knew all of the given information in advance? Or you didn’t have a surplus of information and you had to filter it out? Or you didn’t have insufficient information and had to go find some? I’m sure we all agree that no problem worth solving is like that.” Problem-solving is about research, pattern-matching, and filtering out the unimportant. And isn’t that what BI software is supposed to help us do?
