I am a high school sophomore currently interested in spending my junior year of high school abroad in England. As I researched all the programs available, reality suck in and I realized I could never afford it! ><
I want a safe, reliable program that makes sure they match you with a good family.I wouldn't mind if you throw in other country choices(country must speak english).
Scracht that. Country doesn't have to speak english.
I think it's harder to get visas to study abroad in England or something. At any rate, LOTS of programs don't offer it, even though they may offer Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa (kind of English-speaking, anyway).
It depends what you want formy our program. Is it your first choice of country? AFS might be a good choice then. I have friends with AFS and they haven't had any complaints (at least, nothing beyond normal whiny-kid complaining that isn't really AFS's fault). There is also YFU but I have heard a couple people say they had reasons not to recommend it, although I'm sure most people have no issues.
Is it exchange in general? Rotary's prices are very affordable, but you only get to submit a LIST of countries you want to go to (usually five to ten) and they try to get you in one of your top choices. they look for flexibility, and thus are not a good program if you only want English-speaking countries. But if you really are open to other places, they are great. But then, Rotayr's my program -- I'm biased.

Im in high school and i want to study abroad for the full academic year 2009-2010, but I cant find any programs that are still accepting applications. Please let me know of any programs that are still accepting! I dont care for which country. Thanks!
I doubt you'll find any legit ones. Most programs are now placing students, not accepting new ones.

I am looking to study abroad, at Woodstock Boarding School in India, through the SAGE program. I have applied for a scholarship from SAGE and from Woodstock, but I am afraid that if I don't receive it, then we can't pay for the expense and I won't be able to go. Does anybody have any ideas for financial aid for a high school senior to study abroad? Thank you very much to all who answer, this is much appreciated.
Hello how are you? What I suggest you do is use a scholarship search. A scholarship search allows you to create a profile and receive information for all the scholarships that you are eligible to apply for based on your profile description. Scholarshipsupport.com actually has 2 free scholarship searches available right now. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Is it possible to spend your fall semester of your sophomore year in high school studying abroad in europe? If yes, where can you do it and how?
One of the most well organized and popular foreign exchange programs, for students of all ages, is AFS. Go to afs.org and select your country, then there will be all sorts of information including programs, financial info, and more. AFS is a very strong program, and has a lot of activities, and also does a very good job of taking care of the students and making sure that they are doing well

Study abroad tips? | Europe Edu
But I can give you some realistic tips>
Don’t be afraid to talk to strangers, especially one’s with something similar to you, see a bag with a logo your familiar with, (like the exchange program your with) and by gum you’ve made a new friend. Or talk to people wearing movement/band/etc…stickers/logos and they can be your friends. I think the most important thing I’ve learned when travelling is to make friends. It is the hardest thing you’ll have to do, but it will make the trip so much easier, and cheaper, and makes the trip a great time. DONT HANG OUT WITH JUST YOUR FRIENDS FROM AMERICA!!! – BIG MISTAKE!! be their friend but it will be better to be friends with local students, they can point you to cheap food/cheap houses/cheap trips heck even give you that stuff for free.
My exploits in France involved getting free wine becuase of an illness, don’t be afraid to try local traditions even if it goes against your beliefs, your studying abroad, immersing yourself in a culture not of your own. Be sure to read what Loo your going into too, I used the womens once, not a pretty site.
