I'm looking for a homeschool high school program for my soon-to-be 9th grade son. He is very smart but a little lazy when it comes to school. He has been homeschooled since kindergarten. I would like to read some feedback from people who have had experience with one or both of these schools.
Try American School, my older brother did that when he was that age and he's majoring in criminal justice now, he's in the top of all his classes. I'm starting American School next year too. I don't know about Penn Foster though.
Good luck!
When homeschooling a high school student, create a lesson plan that prepares them for the college or trade school they're interested in by ...
Regular homeschooling, not a cyber charter school, is what I am interested in finding out about.
It's possible, but more difficult. You can find a lot of the textbooks second-hand (or borrow them); what you shouldn't skimp on is science lab supplies.
Everything else...the library is your friend :) History, lit, geography, and other subjects can be learned almost completely from the library and internet. My advice? Spend your money on math and science materials, get whatever of those books you can second-hand, and use the library and internet for everything possible.
My mom has software to make it, but its ridiculously complicated and I was wondering if there is a better way.
There are so many options available! I know people who made transcripts with special software and people who made them on their Microsoft Office software.
Try to find a template in a book about Homeschool transcripts. That's what I did.
There are tons of Homeschool transcript resources. I'm sure that HSLDA's website could give you some helpful advice as well.
Good luck!
I am a single parent, I am trying to find an virtual high school internet option, low cost.

Just wondering
p.s. I live in FL.
I live in Texas and homeschooling is considered a private school. By law there no set amount of days a year or set amount of time a day that you have to be in school. You can homeschool at your own pace and if your parents feel that you meet the standard of a graduate then yes you can. Private schoolers are also not required to test but can if they choose to. Private school also does not have to take accredited classes or do accredited work and it does not have to be approved by anyone. Like I said I live in Texas though. If you will search online you should be able to find a homeschool support group in your area that will gladly help you get all your answers for your state. Most homeschoolers love to help people get out of the public school system. I plan to start homeschooling my kids soon. Good luck with it and if you need me to help you research anything just let me know,my e-mail is sbourland@excite.com I am not sure if I am supposed to put that there but I will find out.

Sports Access Bill to Be Heard on Monday | HEAV's Virginia ...
The legislative session began last Wednesday (January 12), and already HEAV has sorted through several thousand bills and attended numerous committee hearings.
This week, a bill on homeschool access to public school sports came up; it passed out of subcommittee and will come before the full House Education Committee this Monday , January 24, at 9 a.m.
While we understand the interest some parents have in providing athletic opportunities for their children, it is not HEAV’s mission or purpose to pursue legislation that promotes a return to public schools. We have worked diligently for 28 years to protect and strengthen homeschooling freedoms and are concerned that additional requirements will be imposed on homeschool families. HEAV is neutral on this legislation.
Although neutral, our lobbyist, Bob Shanks, is still at the capital talking with legislators and attending all hearings. Below is his first-hand report on the hearing
