2 Kings 2:23-24 (New International Version)
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!"
He turned around, and looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord.
Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

This is what I am have so far that I could on my college application
(I don't know much about this. Which ones could I put on my college application?)
(Extra)
-Teach little kids the Russian language every Sunday
-Private violin lessons
-Volunteer at a hospital
-Church choir
-Church band
-Volunteer at church camp( Teaching, helping in the kitchen)
-Play violin in school
(Clubs)
-international since 10th grade
-environmental club since 11th grade
Your application is looking good however I agree with Timmy500. You should consider changind little kids to young children to make it sound more formal. Colleges like people that use more formal language. Also give a brief explanation of what you do in each of these as well as just stating what you doand why. For example: 'I teach young children Russian language on sundays. This involves (whatever teaching methods you use, and other ways to teach) and I decided to do this because (reason for teaching). If you do this on all of your extra things your application will look better.
Good work so far though

So, to be honest, I'm pretty much a worry wart :)
and I REALLY want to get into a good school (I'm a freshman now, 14 years) so can y'all tell me how I'm doing so far?
I'm in Girl Scouts, working on my gold award
I teach Sunday School
I take piano lessons
I play the bass in the school honors Orchestra
I will be in French Club next year
I volunteer at an Art center for kids
Next Summer I'll be doing the US page program
I'm in the IB program at my school....
Any comments? Tips? interesting ideas? your experience?
I do know that Schools like to see leadership and cohesive extracurriculars.......and I probably need to start a sport too.....
Thanks y'all :)
P.S. I wanna be an International Studies/Psychology major, if that makes any difference :)
(the us page program is free by the way, actually, they pay you)
That's pretty good (actually for a 14 year old that's really good).
My tip is to do extracurriculars because you love them not to pad your resume. Which also means don't take more than you can chew. Honour your commitments. If for not other reason, it's better to get a few solid references (which will serve you well for far more than just college) than a mountain of half-assed positions that you've signed up for. Plus it's the right thing to do.
Also keep in mind to get a good diversity of experiences - this applies to jobs more than college (but they work together); e.g. experience handling money, leadership skills, communication skills...etc.; ask yourself what you can do to improve areas that need improving or might prove useful in the future. I.e. think "transferable skills."
Good luck (though looks like you don't need it!)

From that list, I wouldn't worry about anything. Your activities show well-roundedness as well as academic priorities. From my experience, just make sure you don't burn yourself out. If one of your activities is stressing you out, or you are no longer interested, give it up. Don't stick to it for fear of not getting into a good school; you can always find something else that truely interests you.
If you are thinking about going into International Studies, see if you can become a summer intern for one of your local reps. You can make some good connections for possible paid jobs later as well as meeting people that may be able to give you some career advice. (I know that isn't directly related to international relations but internships in that area won't really be available until you've had some college training).
Also, keep up the French! The US embassy runs internship programs to their embassies for hs and college students. They may or may not be paid but my friend is currently working in the embassy in Paris and she's learning a lot.
Finally, my sister participated in more activities than I did, and we had approximately the same GPA in HS. But she didn't receive any scholarships and I ended up with quite a few. The key difference was that I searched out EVERY scholarship I could. If your school has scholarship resources, use them, or try the internet. I had the best luck with local scholarships (like from the women's clubs or other places like that). They weren't the huge money ones, but the competition isn't so stiff and you can end up winning a bunch of smaller ones that end up being the same amount as one big one that you have less of a shot at. That being said, don't shy away from the big ones, but apply to local ones as well. There are also many scholarships that you don't have to be a senior to apply for; some are only available to freshmen or sophmores. I didn't ever look then but when I was a senior I wished I had!
Oh, and if your school offers any AP classes-take them!! Where I went to HS, the AP and honors classes were the same class but you received extra GPA points for the AP. Plus, if you take the exams at the end, you can knock out a lot of your basic college classes for WAY cheaper. I ended up starting college at a 2nd semester sophmore. It helped a lot because I didn't have that extra cost and I ended up being able to get into classes way earlier than some of my friends because I was classed as a sophmore (freshmen get last pick).
Good luck, keep up all that hard work!
Kate.
