Another tragic school shooting! what can we do to prevent them?
Iowa_06042011_Junior_registration_7

Ed Thomas, renowned Iowa High school football coach was shot and killed in the weight room of Applington-Parkersburg High this morning with about 30 students present.
The shooter was known to have mental problems and in fact was to be admitted to a psych ward this past weekend.

We all have known classmates/neighbors who seemed a little "off" and have probably been afraid that they would some day do something like this!
What can we do? These tragedies are so heartbreaking!

Get rid of the guns, get rid of the guns. Ha! Have you figured out how yet? Oh, you mean get rid of the legal guns. Well, that might be a little difficult as not many are going to no matter what. And forget all the guns that the criminals have that aren't legal.

How about getting rid of the hate? The stupid parents who go crazy because their kids, their team losses, or the umpire calls it wrong.

I don't know if this was the case in this shooting, but when Parents become angry for such stupid stuff, what are the kids taught.

To anyone who follows high school football recruiting..?

What high school has the best plaers currently in college football?
Iowa_06042011_Junior_registration_6

If we were to rate the number one HS football program based on what college players they have produced, who would be tops....I am talking just current college players.

I will throw one out there......

Warren Central HS (Indianapolis IN)

Desmond Tardy (WR-Purdue-SR) - 30Rec 448Yds 2TD
Jerimy Finch (S-Indiana-SO)- 6Tackles 2BlkKick
Jeff Boyd (DT-Indiana-RSFR) - 1Tackle
Chris Adkins (CB-Indiana-RSFR) - 22Tackles 2TFL 1FF 1BU
Andrew McDonald (OL-Indiana-RSFR)
Darren Evans (RB-ViginiaTech-RSFR) - 415Yds 8TD
Jewel Hampton (RB-Iowa-FR) - 268Yds 5TD
Adrien Robinson (TE-Cincinnatti-RSFR) - 1Rec 12Yds
Dexter Taylor (RB-W.Kentucky-SO) - 144Yds
Jacob McLaurin (OL-W.Kentucky-SO)
Jason Onyebuagu (OL-N.Illinois-JR) 2YR Starter
Andre Hatchett (OLB-E.Michigan-JR)
Chris Graham (MLB-Michigan-SR) - 2Yr Starter

No Current Heismen Hopefulls, but in about Two Years....Look Out

Raymore-Peculiar High School (Peculiar, Missouri)

WR Chase Coffman (TE-Missouri-SR) - 4 Year Starter
Derrick Washington (RB-Missouri-SO) 1st year starter
Carson Coffman (QB-K State-RS/SO) 3 yr Backup to Josh Freeman
Clyde Aufner (OT-K State-FR) - 1 Yr Starter
Terry Dennis (WR-Missouri-FR) Back-Up
Thomas Hodges (RB - MO Western- JR) 3 Year starter
LB Levi Thompson (DE-Alabama State-JR) 3 year starter
Brandon Wright (SS - Arkansas State - JR) 3 year starter

Not the best. But The first four are. Went to school with all of them. Chase will be one hell of a tight end in the NFL. I can't wait for this years draft. Washington will too in a couple years.

Predictions
Chase Coffman - 2nd Round- 2009 NFL Draft
Derrick Washington - 4th Round - 2011 NFL Draft
Clyde Aufner - 3rd/4th Round - 2011 NFL Draft

Rest won't get in the NFL unless Carson has a break out record breaking Heisman trophy winning season after Freeman leaves... And it depends if Freeman leaves after this season or not. If he does... Carson has two years to form something. If not, I doubt he gets in.

How do you go from being a high school teacher to being Secretary of State?
Iowa_06042011_Junior_registration_8

Iowa Governor Chet Culver's bio http://www.chetculver.com/bio/,
states:

"After receiving his Master of Arts in Teaching at Drake University in 1994, he taught government and history at Roosevelt High School and Hoover High School in Des Moines,"
"As a teacher and a coach, Chet drew on his experiences playing both sports in high school and playing football on scholarship at Virginia Tech."

Then the next paragraph states,
"In 1998, Chet was elected as Iowa’s 29th Secretary of State and the youngest Secretary of State in the nation. "

LOL What kind of transition is that?
