I'm in professional school and it seems like most of my (female) classmates will wear nailpolish, jewelry, and makeup. I'm female and I'm very...minimalist in how long it takes me to get ready for school. (i.e. I try to be clean and not wear something ratty).
What are your thoughts? Do you get dressed up? Why or why not? Is it bad not to?
I don't really wear nail polish. Jewellery is okay :), and I dont put on any makeup.
Wearing all of those things dont really make you look bad. Its not bad to put on all those things on :). ..makeup just hides your imperfections and enhances your beauty. Jewellery compliments your outfit, and i guess nail polish pops out oyur nails?..lol but its not a crime..so go ahead :)
You can start by doing the basics and start out by putting foundation :)

One that is nationally accredited, like a main stream college or University offer the classes online..
The only thing I've found online is videos. Some of them are free, but most must be purchased. They deal with very specific topics, such as wire wrapping or bead stringing, and are only for hobbyists. Good luck with finding something more useful than I've found. I have oodles of gemstones, and lots of ideas for making them into jewelry, but have no clue how to start to do the actual work.

I just got a necklace for Christmas that looks like a silver key, I think it only cost $20 from Kohls. My question is, where do you think the line is for what you can wear to school? I never ever wear jewelry except handmade necklaces and stuff so I'm kind of clueless. =P
To be honest i don't really think there's a line with expensive jewellery that you can wear to school. I think it depends on if the jewellery makes you look to accessorised for school(:
My public high school had a limited jewelry policy. You were ONLY allowed two earrings which had to be in your ears boys could not wear any. No facial piercings or tongue rings, no chains or bracelets, one ring that was it . if you had them they were taken and not returned even to a parent until the end of the year if you refused you were sent home unexcused absence if it happened again you were suspended
Just wondering how you would feel about this?
If I disagreed strongly with this or any school policy, then I would send my children to a different school. If I chose to send my children there, then I would have to support the staff and administration!
That being said, I have no problem with the rule, as it is the same where I work. I believe that parents should support school rules and encourage their children to follow them.
Furthermore, the confiscation issue is fine with me, since the students knew the rules and chose to break them.
I want to get my ears pierced but cross country season will start in a few weeks and I know it takes 6-8 weeks for the hole to become permenant. But I know in track they make you take out earings before a race. I've seen pictures of girls in cross country races wearing small earings before who go to my school, but I don't know if they just happened to get away with it for that race.
normally, they're not allowed to wear jewelry, especially at state meets or big invitationals. you can get DQed for wearing earrings or bracelets, even those little plastic bracelets girls make out of the soda things. however, some little meets or meets with nice people will allow you to ear earrings at the most. or some will let you put bandaids around your earrings, but then again, some picky people won't even let you ear bandaids. when in doubt, don't wear them. you don't want to take any chances. a lot of coaches will look for any of that kind of stuff to get you and your team DQed so that they have a better chance of winning the race.
my advice to you would be that if you want to get your ears pierced, it's best to get them done at the beginning of the summer, when you don't have any races coming up. I got mine pierced on Christmas my freshman year, and i started racing all-comers, and i had to take them out, and the holes closed, and i pierced them again after they healed from infection. it hurts a lot, i don't want you to take any chances.
i'm from Califoria, btw, i'm not sure how other states do it, but we normally aren't allowed to wear any type of jewelry
