i'm looking for colleges and i came across the joffrey ballet school and wanted to study there over the summer and i wanted to see if it was a college also.
The Joffrey School once had a partnership with New School that offered a BFA, but that fell apart. In fact, everything is falling apart with the Joffrey School. They are no longer the official school of the Joffrey Ballet. The Academy of Dance Chicago is now the official school of the Joffrey Ballet and I know many dancers who have left the Joffrey School in frustration over their lack of support and organization.

Is Joffrey Ballet School good?
I just want to get into a nice school to do ballet. I love ballet
I want to audition for it and i was wondering is it easier to get in?
I tried out SAB.... i didnt get in.....
Is it easier to get in Joffrey Ballet? SAB was really strict and they don't just accept any students.
Does Joffrey ballet accept mostly all kinds of students for training?
My daughter was accepted to the summer program they ran in San Antonio. She was a good dancer at the time but by no means the best in her local studio. Getting accepted for the summer intensive is not really difficult, but acceptance to the resident year program is VERY difficult. I do know of one young man from the studio near me that got in, but he was GOOD - headed for the pros for sure if he stays healthy. The people who run summer intensives and other auditions are VERY selective as whom they invite - probably as strict as SAB if not moreso. IDK what you are asking when you say "all kinds of students for training" but I think its No....
I am trying to decide what program to attend next year and both are so different, with different focuses. If anyone could offer their opinion that would be great. One deciding factor is the type of job that I could get afterwards. Where are the various graduates from both programs dancing?
JOFFREY BALLET SCHOOL! I went for the summer intensive this year and i loved it (NYC) amazing teachers and a wonderful program!
I don't know what to do. There has been a recent change in staff that is not at all favorable in my eyes. However most auditions are past. What are some ballet schools that audition year round? They also need to have housing and being on the east coast is a plus!

Technically, it may not have been the first class she ever taught, but the week of Master Classes at David Howard’s studio on West 61st Street some 15 years ago was Gelsey Kirkland’s first high profile teaching assignment in this country. She was nervous; we were nervous. She had high expectations; we had high expectations. What she may not have expected, though, was the rather wide range of abilities that showed up that first day to take her class. Every level of talent and degree of balletic disability lined the barre that day. Could she teach the group as an advanced class? No. Could she teach us as an intermediate class? No. Could she teach the group as a class of lifelong beginners? No. The meticulously designed lesson plan went out the window, figuratively speaking. Almost an hour later we all were exhausted but still trying to feel the centers of the soles of our feet on the floor as we struggled with her tiny, tiny rond de jambe par terre – while holding each finger of the hand perfectly, while inviting the light into our faces with raised eyebrows, while breathing. At some point, the studio manager appeared around the corner, caught Gelsey’s attention, and tapped his watch. So much to do and so little time. She apologized and apologized for moving the class along so slowly but we just wanted her to keep going. We were hearing the ballet message in a new and different way.
