what is the difference between a sailing school and a maritime school ?

I want to become a sailor and I am a little confused as to which school to attend.


A sailing school will simply teach you sail or cruise - navigation, provisioning, boat handling ,etc.
A maritime school is usually a 4 yr college that will not only make you a sailor by put you on track to being the capt of a cruise ship or a tanker, or maybe you just want to be an engineer on one of these vessels. The boatyard manager I work at went to one just for that reason. You will get a great education

which school is better maritime or oswego?

i wanna go to maritime for the regiment and football and i wanna go to osweo for wrestling and friends are going but i dunno which is cheaper and an overall better school

and if i am in the regiment in maritime do i live on campus for free?


both school cost the same because they are both SUNY schools. Both have there perks, check out there websites for info about that stuff.
According to their site at Maritime, Regiment is only guaranteed housing, but you pay for it
