I have a Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University, but I am not really excited about the field I went into anymore. Now, I am almost 30 and want to switch careers. I want to go to mortuary school to become a funeral director, but I don't know anyone in the field that I could ask about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Call up the school and speak to people there. Also, inquire if the school has any written materials about the school. My brother-in-law was a mortician, a profession considered rather morbid but he made a very good living. You could also contact mortuaries and speak to the funeral director.

I'm currently in Nebraska at UNK, but I have to transfer to another school to finish my degree. Do you have any input on what is the best school for Mortuary Science? Is Mesa Community College good?? Is AZ reasonable or is it expensive?
Big bucks.

Hi I want to go into mortuary science and I live in Maine, and I want to say a little closer to home. I was thinking in New England. I know that there is one in Mass, but I dont know the name and if it is good? Can some one help me with this. I also and open to somthing in Virginia, Delaware or Kentucky, as I have family there also. Thanks for any suggestions!!
The best in the country is in San Francisco.
Call a funeral home in the state you want to study in, or that that's Mortuary Board. They can tell you. The advantage of calling a funeral home is that you may get to talk to someone who studied at the school you are looking at.
Good luck!
I've recently decided become an embalmer, and in the stated of Kentucky it is required to have an associate degree in Mortuary Science. So far I cannot find any information on schools offering this program in Kentucky. Can anyone provide any information? A website maybe?
Mid-America College of Funeral Services offers a degree in Mortuary Science:

Kentucky School of Mortuary Science:
Looks like the majority of schools that offer this degree are out of state...however, most do offer online degrees if you can handle cyberschool ;-)
Good luck to you and your future endeavors! Hope this helps a bit

"We're happy that we've made it to this point and we're very happy to come into the community of South Point and and be of service to them," said Rick Slack, owner of Slack and Wallace Funeral Home. "We felt like there was a need here and we're just happy to be here."
Slack and Wallace is a full-service funeral home.
great news for a small town. good luck to the owners:) and no funeral homes do not take advantage of people during their worst time. shame on those who are uneducated about funeral service and what a funeral director does for families in need. perhaps they need to take some courses at the mortuary school to be able to better understand that it's about taking care of people. i bet these same ignorant individuals don't feel the same way about doctors who make a living off of sick and dying people!News
