Whats it like in Private School?
I've always been in Public School for 11 years.
This is my first time ever in Private School. Im going to be a Sophomore,10th grader.
Is there any diffrences?
Do people actually shut up in the class? Are they mean? Is it clean?
Tell me all you can? Please.
Thank You!
i go to a Christian private school and I, personally, really like it. However there are some things that I dont like about it. I like how there aren't as many people, and the teachers seem to be nicer, and since there's usually less people in private schools they can usually control the class better. The biggest problem I have in my school is, since the class is smaller, if someone is mean to you or decides that they dont like you, its nearly impossible to get away from them.
I like private school, and you shouldnt worry, I'm sure you'll be great! =D
Betsy Russell bedroom scene- this is an edit to include the deleted parts from the TV version ... that's why the quality changes half-way ...
So next year I am going to private school, it's one of the best schools in the state. I have been in public school all my life. What should I expect? Are people in private schools snobby? How different are private school kids from public school kids?
woo man.
I ve been going to a private school for 5 years and i used to got to public school. My school is also one of the best...but in England. Well...it really isnt that different to public schools. the people are just the same...it just depends who you associate with. Its just you dont get as many ganstars etc. obviously. The parents of the people are usually more doctors lawyers etc. There are probably tonnes of people just lik you who are there. Just think about it...they are just the same people but slightly cleverer or richer. You do get the odd snob but you get them in public schools too.
Trust me ull love it...co0s ur probably clever so ull enjoy it there cos evryones ur standard.
Haye fun...goood luck!!!
can i apply for private school going into 10th grade? i'm going into 9th grade, now, but it's to late to apply. if i can what are good private schools in the boston area?
If you call up one of the schools you really want to go to, and beg them hard enough, they might give you a chance. I go to a private all-girls schools (and I LOVE IT!!! - best decision of my life), and several girls said they applied late but were still able to take the entrance exam, even the summer before the year they went. Yes you can apply for 10th grade, but it is a LOT harder to get in, and you would be better off going 9th grade. I really don't know any in the boston area; I live in Buffalo, but I applaud your decision and suggest you do anything possible to get in now.

How many kids approximatley do a private high school in the USA have???
Thanks :)
"does" instead of "do" lol....sorry i'm from Europe
Private schools vary greatly as to how many kids. For high schools (grades 9 - 12), some have about 100 kids per grade, so 400. Some might have 300 kids per grade, so 1200. There are also very small schools, with maybe 30 kids per grade, so 120 total. There are also larger schools, maybe 575 students per grade, so 2300 total.
The schools my son applied to have between 400 and 700 for grades 9 - 12.
Public schools also vary greatly. High schools in my area (L.A.) have from 600 to 5300 students, with 1200 - 2500 being common.
When I say private school I mean Prep not College prep but prep schools for grades 7-12.
What do you have to do to become a private (prep)school teacher,is it way different then people trying to become public school teachers? Can a public school teacher become a private school teacher?
It depends what school you have in mind. Your small local, catholic private school probably has undistinguished teachers who may be not as good as the public school teacher. The funds the schools have to pay these teachers are less than the amount the state dishes to the public school, and in truth, public school teachers have a much tougher job, because they have to grade 66 students' works (22 students in 3 classes for a term... yikes!), lecture to them everyday, and make sure that no one is failing even though there are a lot of mediocre students in the classroom. However schools in the ten schools organization and a few other prestigious private schools scattered across the nation bring out a lot of heavy artillery to convince Ph.D's and other teachers with advanced degrees to teach at their schools. I remember from one article in our newspaper that said that the average teacher's wage at our school was in the $70,000-$80,000 range and that the head of the science department made about $110,000 dollars. Don't forget that the teachers receive free room and board in a luxurious two or three bedroom apartment and enjoy the benefits of college professors (tenure, sabbatical, paid leave, etc.) Compare that to the $50,000 average for high school teachers (which includes boarding school teacher salaries). I would estimate that private school teachers at top school make about $20000 more than a regular teacher, but the hardships of getting of advanced degrees and the cost justify this pay raise.

Opinion: The education racket hits Australia — Private school fees ...
There’s a huge irony here. Education in Australia used to be free, including university level education. Then, in the late 60s, we caught the “run things that aren’t businesses like they were businesses” and “user pays” excuses which instantly crank up the prices of everything. Like America, the education system has simply turned into a money making machine, where people pay multiples of earlier prices for arguably inferior or the same products. The first two generations of large scale university graduates tripled Australia’s GDP, being able to provide more high value services. During the Baby Boom, the big increase in numbers of qualified people also transformed the society, producing a much bigger, affluent, middle class. Most of the incumbent politicians in Australia are from those generations. 2. The effect of reducing the numbers of qualified people is to create shortages of necessary skills, particularly when law and accountancy are considered “good” jobs and highly...
