Is it true that in California, public school funding is based on district scores?

Some public schools have very high test scores, and they seem to receive more funding, but schools within the ghettos with low test scores receive little funding. Is this true?

no

Is public school funding too low? Are the Teachers wages too low? What is the cause of the problems at school?

As a kid my friends and I are always talking about schooling, grades, jobs, women and money. One thing that I have realised is that public school funding is too low. My friends are always telling me how some private schools have the lates technology and receive the highest quality education. As for us kids, it is too unfortunate the government won'tdo a damn thing about it. Our classes are at a poor state and the teachers are only teaching top classes aka. my nerdy class that I'm stuck with and don't give crap out the lower classes. Why hasn't the government taken this into consideration. Do you want the future to be run by no good morons? Do you have buy an education?

Public school funding is higher in the United States than in any other country in the world. The average spent per child in many states is over $10,000/yr. Many good private schools are under $5000/yr. So how come they are better?

The teacher's union. The union does not have the students' best interest at heart. The union only wants more teachers paying more union dues, so that they can ensure their ongoing power.

If the union would allow merit based pay raises, and allow teachers who cannot or will not do their jobs to be fired, the schools would be better off. Everything works better in a free market economy. Give the teachers some incentive for being the best they can be, instead of guaranteeing them a job and pension for showing up every day.

Please don't think I am anti-teacher or anti-union. 99% of the teachers are doing the best they can within the rules they are given. Maybe it's time we changed the rules. We have been throwing money at the problem long enough. Remember, Ben Franklin's definition of insanity was "doing the same thing again and again, expecting a different outcome".

Where can I find records of public school funding?

(Helping out my cousin) I'm specifically looking for the California PS system.

Usually this can be found on the state's Board of Education site. It is for my former, and current state, anyway.

Here is the link for CA. Just do a search for "school funding".

What is the average property tax amount and how much of it goes to public school funding?

writing a bill. need help with this question
sorry i forgot to add that i'm talking about Mississippi

Average for county schools is 42.43
Junior colleges is 3.56

If you go to the site below, take it with an open mind. There is a disclaimer that the accuracy of the data is only as good as its source. Look at the millage rate near the bottom of the web site.

Cities also have a millage rate, but I believe it goes into their general fund and is not separated out.

why do some people think that funding one public school system is a good thing?

im writing an essay on the different funding of school systems. i am not in favour of the public school system so i would like to ask what every ones opinions are, specifically why it is a bad thing. thanks!

because of people like me i don't agree with public school funding because for one thing the schools already get so much money from the students. for two i was going to public school and got a special educations testing don't and they said i was like 3 points above the special needs requirements and so they didn't put me in the classes i needed so there for i dropped out of high school because i couldn't do the work they gave me and didn't understand it because my teachers were not properly trained for what i needed. they didn't even want to give me the test they said because i had bad attendance in the past but it was because of a medical issue. the hate public schools and would never put my children in one.(if i did have children)

  • Florida shifting more public education money to private hands ...

    By Willian Gjebre, BrowardBulldog.org

Millions more in state money appears to be headed to private education at a cost to public schools through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program.

The scholar program has redirected state education dollars to low-income families, who mostly use the voucher scholarship credits at private schools.

Broward public schools face the loss of 430 students and nearly $3 million; Miami-Dade about 1,500 students and $10 million. Federal Title I money would also be eroded to support the education of low income students.

Statewide, the program is expected to grow by 6,000 students. The state gives dollars to the public schools based on attendance.

The likely loss of funds and students comes at a time when both districts are under financial stress due to limited state funding caused by the downturn in the economy during the past four years; state funding is expected to be cut next school year. The expansion of the FTC program, therefore, adds to the financial difficulties of the two school districts.
