Sailing School

...in learning together.
We would love to someday have our own sailboat, but first we need to be properly trained to sail and maintain a vessell. Can anyone recommend a good sailing school that is both reasonably priced and appropriate for a novice?

I'm looking for a good sailing school... I would like for it to last around a month or longer but I'm having a hard time finding one that last for that amount of time.
I'm looking for one that would last for at least a month or so. It would be nice if it was near florida or the Virgin Islands, but anywhere near east coast (US) would be fine.

I want to become a sailor and I am a little confused as to which school to attend.

A sailing school will simply teach you sail or cruise - navigation, provisioning, boat handling ,etc.
A maritime school is usually a 4 yr college that will not only make you a sailor by put you on track to being the capt of a cruise ship or a tanker, or maybe you just want to be an engineer on one of these vessels. The boatyard manager I work at went to one just for that reason. You will get a great education

I did the one with the yacht club and had a blast. Seemed pretty reasonable too.

Hi, I'm Dr. Dean Gullberry from the University of Maryland medical program. I am a registered dermatologist, and I believe I can help. Also, I have been captain of the great Maryland U sailing team for 29 years this March. Now, call me ignorant, but I don't think there is one con to taking part of a Sailing team. It builds leadership, team unity, character, and even boats. Even as a young boy, I sailed boats with my team in the great state of Montana on lake Walumpaumpack. Singing the Edmund Fitzgerald song with my lifelong friend, Edwin Thomas Gainsford-Schillpy. Well, until he went to prison. Listen, but the point is plain and simple--It's just gosh darn (pardon my language) fun! Fun to do it even now, with my acute diabetes and jawthritis. It would especially be fun in high school because you are young, slender, and ready for working on the great seas. To answer your question plain and simple, I will say one thing - good luck out on the choppy waters. If I knew how to, i would make a smiley face at this point, but I'm not very technologically advanced. In fact, I just got on the facebook. Oh alright, I'll try one just for you. (0.-) didn't work out very well.
